Dear Parent or Guardian, This semester I am launching a new program here at Cedar Secondary using www.jupitergrades.com for parents and students to keep abreast of the students current mark and academic standing in this English course. This website is being used successfully in other School District 68 schools and I believe that it will be of great benefit to both students and their families to be able to login together at home at any time. Student/Parent participation is not mandatory. Any parent choosing not to participate will still receive grade updates via paperwork sent home during each term, or in cases of teacher concern, a direct phone call. This website is meant to act merely as convenience to parents and students. Those parents wishing to participate must provide signed permission forms. Once permission is given, parents will receive an activation code and temporary password for the site. Upon first logging in, you will be directed to creating a unique password for yourself, while the student will have to create his/her own. This allows students and parents to check the site individually and from differing locations. From this jupitergrades website:

I am looking forward to launching this within the next week and would appreciate the permission forms back by Friday. As the classroom teacher, I will update the student assignment marks every two weeks, and where appropriate I may include comments. These comments are only visible to the student/parent they are directed to. Grade breakdown will be based on the following:

By signing this letter, I acknowledge that, Jupitergrades.com utilizes a database located in and governed by the federal laws of the United States of America. Information on this site will be used solely by the teacher (Miss M. Bell), my son/daughter, my son/daughters counselor(s), for the purposes of (a) recording and (b) communicating my son/daughters progress and attendance in the class enrolled. The classroom teacher controls the information entered into the database, and personal information will be kept to a minimum: student name, email address, and assignment marks.
