Week 1

Welcome to the first week in teaching internship February 12, 2024 at

FULONG MALIONA M. SAN SR. NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL. During my first day, I

am very happy ,excited and nervous, and I have the privilege of meeting my

cooperating teacher Ms. JOVELYN KINTANAR, the head teacher of the school

MRS. JANE MUAÑA the school curriculum coordinator, the principal Mrs.

ELVIRA T. FAILMA and of course the students.

I am very happy because she is very kind and approachable. In my first

week of internship, I learned that I must teach myself to start practicing a

good practice as a processional teacher beginning with being punctual. This

week February 12 is the starting date of our duty. My cooperating Teacher

introduce me to the class during her subject science. She is handling grade

9-10 but she gave me the grade 10 students.

Indeed, I am teaching grade 10 students my cooperating teacher give

me all the topics of grade 10. This is very challenging to us as a Pre-Service

Teachers to show our passion in teaching. During this week, I had to cope up

with some adjustments of my new environment and get to know with my

grade 10 students . Which is I need to prepare myself as I will start to impart

the knowledge of these students starting by next week.

Week 2

This week I expect to start imparting my knowledge to the students, I

already handled my class schedule Monday up to Thursday, is my actual

teaching. My cooperating teacher gave her technical assistance afterwards. I

received a positive feedback from her, and it’s overwhelming. I follow the

classroom routines like classroom management, checking of attendance,

giving motivation to the students and proper lesson.

Every day, I prepared my lesson plan, instructional materials and

power point presentation wherein mostly I have instructional materials

Presentation because it is engaging. On the last day of this week, my

cooperating teacher asked me to encode print the activity sheets so I did.

While working with my cooperating teacher I learned lot from her

especially when I had my actual teaching because she never failed to give

her technical assistance on what are the things I must improve. This week is

the municipal athletic meet of the players students some of the teachers is

not around in this school. So we are the Pre- Service Teacher have task to

substitute and take over their classes. It is very challenging to me because I

am handling other subjects which is the TLE. I realized that in the field of

teaching you will not focus only in your major subject you will expect to
encounter different subject areas and that is the biggest challenge of being a

teacher.

Week 3

26 Monday (February 26, 2022) we had a meeting with the school head

where she gave us her technical assistance. It’s a great privilege to work

with an active school head whose passion is highly notable. My cooperating

teacher informed me with regards to our next shifting in which I will be

assigned in Grade-9 two sections. After the meeting, I proceed to my CT and

helped her in paperwork. Then, my cooperating teacher also have checked

my lesson plan for my demonstration teaching. On the following day, April 19

I had my demonstration teaching in science which is held by this day

afternoon, and the topic which I’ve taught is the female reproductive system

and their functions. In the afternoon, exactly 2 pm I started my first

demonstration in the field and my cooperating teacher observe me. I really

realize that being a teacher is you need to he dedicated to your job to

enhance your passion in teaching. After my demonstration it makes me

proud that my students have learned a lot because almost of them got a

higher scores.
My cooperating teacher really appreciate my strengths in teaching and

she gave me some feedback in my areas of improvement. In a whole week I

always helped my cooperating teacher in her and PowerPoint Presentation

because she will have her demonstration teaching for tomorrow.

Week 4

This week I am always feel exited and ready to attend my class, mu

second home, my second family. That’s my students. I have been in the

classroom by myself this week. It actually felt good and help me grow in

confidence in my classroom management and planning activities. I planned

lessons, quizzes, and homework activities for this week. In every class

session that I conducted my cooperating teacher is observing me. This week,

I would say that this is my chance to show what I’ve learned . But this strong

confident feeling goes down when my critique started my lesson .

I feel so perturbed when I saw that she is writing a lot in my lesson

plan. Then she started to talked and looked at me with smiling face. She

discussed me about the different aggrieve of my lesson plan. And it’s a lot of

nervous she checked my lesson plan before I started to teach. But then she
said that I should d what I prepare then she look at me on what should be

develop. That si the always scene in everyday as I conducted classes and it

gives me a lot of knowledge in learning in the field of teaching.

In the other side, I got to know the students a lot better and they are

definitely becoming ease with me. I know who to look out for, and those

students who are self motivated because I am being careful to cultivate the

correct student-teacher relationship. I feel being strict but fair with them and

I think this can be helpful to provide the correct instructional environment in

the classroom. This week was by far the most concentrated and busy I had.

Week 5

Times flies so fast I am already in a week five of my teaching

internship. Based on the experiences that I have encountered in my practice

teaching, I realized that it is very much meaningful especially for the

practitioner wherein you are being exposed of what really is the field of

teaching. It will serve also as training ground for the aspirant teachers to

fully equipped with skills and knowledge that’s the things that I have realize.

I am paying more attention to the dynamics in each of my classes. I

have noticed that I can expect mixed behavior of my students. For example,

periods one, three and six are attentive, ask questions and worked well with

each other. While, period four and five are different. There are different

dynamics in these periods as there are different groups of students in these

classes. There are a couple of chatty students, and a couple of students who

have no interests in being n the class and therefore will not interact with

each other or to the teacher.

This make a challenged for me to be an effective teacher with these

two classes. I spoke to my cooperating teacher about this. She told me to

make sure that I don’t change my teaching style to cater for these different

groups within the class.

Week 6

This week for me was all about working with those students who need

to improve their grade to pass the classes I teach. I evaluate there all scores

to those got lower scores in all my activities and quizzes i separate them to

the their other classmates and I prioritize them for a meantime and the other

students I gave them other activities. To those learners obtain lowest scores I

teach them going back to basic, I go back discussing the topic and recall it I

use different teaching styles in order for them to learn better.

This week was so busy since I faced so many things. As the start of

the week, I had been taken a new science lesson about menstrual cycle. In
which the students learn into the reality because this lesson focuses the

importance of sexual health, as tracking the menstrual cycle they can aware

of fertile days that can be used as a contraceptive method and as way to

plan conception. And they can be able to know the process of menstrual

cycle women’s body.

Week 7

Now we get down to business, I have been pretty much teaching solo

all week, and im very grateful for the trust my cooperating teacher has in me

this has helped me to build my confidence. The more contact time I am

having with my students the more I get to know me, and the more I get to

know them. The six week period that the teacher talked about with students

is very memorable since the first week of my duty. I wondered what my

students would try on with me as I was new.

I am happy to report that I am forming a great student/teacher

relationship, being mindful to be friendly with the students but at the same

time maintaining the professional distance between student and teacher. I

know the students who need attention during class, and I know those

students who are self- directed learners. This is working out very well, and

I’m glad these roles are being more defined as I take on additional teaching

responsibilities

One thing I have learned is that it is good for teachers to laugh at

themselves. I’ve put the wrong overheads up, covered the projector with a

water bottle and wondered why the white screen was fuzzy and gotten some

words muddled. I think its good for the students to know I am human and am

not some kind of machine.

Week 8

I have always valued the role I play as a future teacher in the growth of

my students. While the importance of academic growth in students is

obvious. I also recognized the of each students social and emotional growth

as well. As a teacher, I have a powerful influence of my students growth in

each of the areas of their lives, and I was able to see the importance of this

influential role during the past few weeks.

There was a case of bullying involving several of my students this

week. Apparently, there was an escalation of name calling involving my

students and students in different classroom. The students in my class

refrained from sharing what happened for some time, but they eventually

pulled my cooperating teacher aside and let her know. They were obviously

upset because of it. When my cooperating teacher filled me in on this

situation, she explained that she was going to hold a class meeting at the

end of the day. I was curious as how my cooperating teacher was going to

address this situation and how the class/ students involved were going to

react.

I had a mindset lesson planned immediately following the discussion in

the meeting and I was able to alter the context so that I could relate this

important lesson on bullying that we were learning. Before the meeting ends

my cooperating teacher ask me to go in front to share a or phrase of

encouragement. The room was in a silent and I observed they are actively

listen to me. I was able to see the influence that this discussion and activity

had on this students, realizing the important influence hat we as a teachers

have on students social and emotional growth. I am thankful to hold this

important goal.

Week 9
As were quickly approaching the end point of student teaching, I have

learned a lot about planning and organizing in the field of teaching. I am not

always been the most organized person prior to college, but as I prepare to

be a teacher, I have learned the importance that planning ahead and being

organized holds. There are so many lessons, data, files, etc. that the

teachers need to keep track of over time, so being organized is a must.

Along with organization comes preparation. I realized during my

internship Planning is something that I have had a lot of practice with so far

during my practiced teaching and nothing feels better than feeling like you

are in control of your teaching life especially in planning lessons in lesson

planning. As for planning, I have also found out that it is very beneficial to

keep a schedule and do my best to stick to it. It is important to keep constant

communication with my cooperating teacher and to make good use out of

any plan time I can get. That’s the thing that I had realize this week.

The major reasons why I wanted to talk about planning because as a

future teacher we should give importance and value the greatness of extra

time to plan. It was an amazing week! I have learned the importance of

staying on track and being mindful of how I spend my time. It isn’t easy, but

it is worth it.
Week 10

This week is the last week of my teaching internship. I can tell that the

feeling is bittersweet. Knowing that I wont have to do any extra work outside

of school is relieving, but I’m definitely going to miss he workplace and the

people. I’ve learned a lot about myself and what I want to pursue during my

time in my cooperating school. I’ve pushed myself to do things I don’t want

to do, and I’ve been introduced the knowledge that I never new about. I

expanded my knowledge and become more confident in myself and my

potential.

My teaching internship experienced brought me so much memory. I

had experienced to become a real teacher. I became more responsible with

my duties as a student teacher. I learned a great deal in the student teaching

process. I have learned to hone my organization skills, to speak more clearly

and concisely, I have learned to plan, and I have learned to manage my time.

Some of these skills I learned quickly and executed well. One area that I

excelled is my ability to over plan, organized lessons and material. These

skills was a great assets throughout my teaching internship.

Through the help of the school FULONG MALIONA M. SAN SR. NATIONAL

HIGH SCHOOL and by the guidance of my cooperating teacher Ms. JOVELYN

S. KINTANAR. She modeled for me how beneficial building relationship van

be. I am very thankful that despite the challenges of student teaching, I have

an incredible supportive cooperating teacher.
