Open Channel Hydraulics Assignment 2024
Open Channel Hydraulics Assignment 2024
For a discharge of 35m3/sec. through this channel, sketch the resulting water surface profiles.
4. A rectangular channel of bed slope 0.001 carries 40 m3/s of water and is 5 m wide. If an
overflow weir is installed across the channel, which raises the water level at the weir to a
depth of 6 m, compute (i) the normal depth of flow; and (ii) the distance to an upstream
section, where the depth of flow is 5.8 m and also classify the GVF profile.
5. A horizontal trapezoidal channel of bed width 2 m and side slopes 2H: 1V carries a
discharge of 6.225m3/s at a depth of 0.2 m. If a hydraulic jump occurs in this channel,
calculate the sequent depth, the energy loss and height of jump.
