Pray through Gods Story (Week 7)

Focus on God
Bow and worship before the God who is merciful, gracious, patient, loving, forgiving, and just. The LORD descended in the cloud and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of the LORD. The LORD passed before him and proclaimed, The LORD, the LORD, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness, keeping steadfast love for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, but who will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children and the childrens children, to the third and the fourth generation. And Moses quickly bowed his head toward the earth and worshiped. (Exodus 34:5-8)

Respond from the Heart

Ask God for forgiveness for you, your family, and your church for worshipping idols (like money, entertainment, work, and even church ministry) which are drawing us away from him. So Moses returned to the Lord and said, Alas, this people has sinned a great sin. They have made for themselves gods of gold. But now, if you will forgive their sinbut if not, please blot me out of your book that you have written. But the Lord said to Moses, Whoever has sinned against me, I will blot out of my book. (Exodus 32:31-33) And he said, If now I have found favor in your sight, O Lord, please let the Lord go in the midst of us, for it is a stiff-necked people, and pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take us for your inheritance. (Exodus 34:9)

Seek First the Kingdom

Pray that the church will be more cheerful and generous in giving time, talent, and treasure to the work of God. And they received from Moses all the contribution that the people of Israel had brought for doing the work on the sanctuary. They still kept bringing him freewill offerings every morning, so that all the craftsmen who were doing every sort of task on the sanctuary came, each from the task that he was doing, and said to Moses, The people bring much more than enough for doing the work that the Lord has commanded us to do. (Exodus 36:3-5)

Present Your Requests

Pray for discernment for Gods purpose or direction for your life. Pray that you will know God more and that he would draw himself closer to you through the knowledge of his will. Now therefore, if I have found favor in your sight, please show me now your ways, that I may know you in order to find favor in your sight. Consider too that this nation is your people. (Exodus 33:13)

Close in Celebration
Thank God for his presence throughout all your lifes journeys. Throughout all their journeys, whenever the cloud was taken up from over the tabernacle, the people of Israel would set out. But if the cloud was not taken up, then they did not set out till the day that it was taken up. For the cloud of the Lord was on the tabernacle by day, and fire was in it by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel throughout all their journeys. (Exodus 40:36-38)
