PROCEDURE:
1. Print Attachments A, B, C, D & E of this document that contain the scanner configuration
instructions for all instrument platforms.
2. Fold printed instructions and place inside (-01) Scanner OEM carton.
4. Using in house labeling equipment and item (-02) label, Print Barcode per Spec
BALTMI0436. (See template instructions drawing 011-830).
5. Apply printed label to carton (Lower right corner of largest side panel).
1) For configuring scanner for EpiCenter connect scanner USB connector to active USB port on PC.
3) Disconnect scanner from USB port. Reconnect scanner to USB port (this will force software
drivers to update).
4) Log into Epicenter and open the Bactec Media Lot and Expiration purchasable module.

6) Once the module is open select the “Scanner” icon by clicking on it.
8) Once registered the “Change Mode” icon will no longer be grayed out and the scanner will be fully
functional.
1. For configuring scanner for Viper LT connect scanner USB connector to active USB port on PC or
instrument. (Note: Instrument software version must be V2.93 or higher to use this scanner.)
4. Reconnect scanner to USB port (this will force software drivers to update).
Note: Rebooting the system may be required for instrument/computer to recognize scanner.
1) For configuring scanner for Totalys (FEA) connect scanner USB connector to active USB port on
PC or instrument.
(Note: Totalys (FEA) Instrument software version must be V1.5 or higher to use this scanner.)
4) Reconnect scanner to USB port (this will force software drivers to update).
Note: Rebooting the system may be required for instrument/computer to recognize scanner.
Note: The scanners factory default settings should work properly for the Bactec FX 40 system.
If the scanner does not work properly configure per the following instructions.
1) For configuring scanner for Bactec FX40 connect scanner USB connector to active USB port.
4) Reconnect scanner to USB port (this will force software drivers to update).
Note: Rebooting the system may be required for instrument/tablet to recognize scanner.
1) For configuring scanner for Phoenix M50 connect scanner USB connector to active USB port on
All-In-One PC or instrument.

3) Now verify barcode scanner is correctly programmed. Navigate to the Panel Login Screen. Select
QC panel type. Touch the ID Broth Lot Number field and scan the barcode below
“1234567” should appear in the ID Broth Lot Number field and “1/31/2035” should be in the ID
Broth Expiration Date field. If the lot number and date fields are not populated, re-scan the 11
barcodes in step 2 above and verify again.
