3B: Polyphase Circuits

laminations

9.State true or false with justification in case of a transformer


 As load increases iron loss increases (Ans : False iron loss is constant loss remains constant
irrespective of load)
 As Load increases copper loss increases (Ans : True copper loss is variable loss and
increases with increase in load current )
 For half load copper loss is 1/4 th that of full load (Ans: Copper loss increases with the
square of current i.e. I2 R hence for half load it will be (½)
