III. COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course introduces students to materials that are used for construction purposes. In this
course: Raw materials, method of production, properties, nature and uses of construction
materials like lime, gypsum & Portland cement, mortar, clay brick, hollow and solid concrete
blocks, stabilized earth blocks are studied in‐depth. At the end general types of building stones
used in Ethiopia will be discussed.

IV. OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE:

After completing this course, students are expected to know:
