I. INTRODUCTION

In an era dominated by digital technology, the analog multimeter, or Volt-

Ohm-Milliammeter (VOM), remains a timeless tool, offering intuitive and
immediate feedback through its iconic moving needle display. This project
explores the intricate design and functionality of an analog multimeter,
blending vintage reliability with modern understanding. By constructing a
custom VOM, this initiative will serve as a bridge between theory and
practice, enhancing our appreciation of the principles behind electrical
measurements while fostering creativity in design.

This project not only aims to produce a functional device but also to inspire
a deeper appreciation for the foundational technologies that paved the way
for modern instrumentation. The analog multimeter symbolizes simplicity
and precision, making it a perfect project to refine skills in circuit design
and measurement techniques.

II. OBJECTIVES
The project’s aim is to go beyond merely building a tool; it seeks to inspire
creativity and deepen understanding of analog measurement systems.
Specifically, the project strives to:

Reimagine the Basics: To design a VOM Analog Multimeter that reflects not only
technical precision but also creative craftsmanship, blending functionality with visual
appeal.

Hands-on Mastery: To provide an immersive learning experience where theoretical

concepts of voltage, current, and resistance are brought to life through real-world
circuit assembly and testing.

Inspire Curiosity: To spark interest and appreciation for analog tools in a digital
age, demonstrating the timeless relevance of engineering principles through creative
problem-solving and functional design.

Precision and Safety: To engineer a highly accurate measuring device with

integrated safeguards like overload protection and reverse polarity prevention to
ensure longevity and user safety.

Improve Skills: To refine technical skills in circuit design, assembly, soldering, and
calibration through hands-on implementation.
