III – PROCEDURES
A. Preparation
 Greetings
 Prayer

Motivation
Directions: The Teacher will show a picture of a drawing and ask the students what
they observe.

B. Lesson Proper/Presentation of the Lesson

The teacher presents the topic for the day and the objectives to be attained.

Activity Proper
A. Activity
Directions: The teacher will group the students into 7 groups and assign
each group 1 element of design that they need to draw on a long bond
paper and show to the class their work.

G1 (value) G2 (value) G3 (line) G4 (shape) G5 (form) G6 (color) G7 (texture)

B. Analysis

 How did you use the element to draw?

 What is an element?
 What are the elements of design?
C. Abstraction

The teacher will introduce the lesson to the students

Elements of design are the components or part which can be isolated and defined in
any visual design or work of art. They structure and carry out the work.

Following are the seven basic elements of design which are common throughout the
field of designing.
1. Line: A mark with greater length than width. Lines can be straight, curved, thick, thin,
or dashed and are used to define shapes, create textures, and convey movement or
direction.
- Horizontal
- Vertical
- Diagonal
2. Shape: A two-dimensional, flat area defined by boundaries.
Shapes can be geometric (squares, circles) or organic (free-form,
natural shapes) and are used to create visual interest and
structure.

3. Form: The three-dimensional equivalent of

shape, including height, width, and depth.
Forms can be geometric or organic and are used to create volume
and space in a design.

4. Color: The hue, saturation, and brightness

of an element. Color can convey mood, create emphasis, and
establish harmony or contrast within a design.

5. Texture: The surface quality or feel of an object, which can be

actual (tactile) or visual (implied). Texture
adds depth and interest, making designs feel more tangible or
visually rich.

6. Space: The area around, between, and within elements of a

design. Space can be used to create a sense of balance, focus, and
organization. It includes both positive space (occupied by elements)
and negative space (empty areas).

7. Value: The lightness or darkness of a color.

Value is crucial for creating contrast, depth,
and visual interest, and it helps in defining
form and spatial relationships.

D. Application

Direction: Read the questions below and identify the type of elements of design.
Encircle only the letter of your best answer
1. Which element of design refers to the way something feels or the way it looks like it
would feel?
A) Line B) Texture C) Color D) Shape
2. What element of design is used to define objects and create movement within a
design?
A) Form B) Line C) Space D) Value
3. Which element of design involves the use of lightness or darkness in a color?
A) Texture B) Color C) Value D) Space
4. What element of design is used to create the illusion of depth on a two-dimensional
surface?
A) Shape B) Form C) Space D) Color
5. Which element of design refers to the physical dimensions of an object, including its
height, width, and depth?
A) Form B) Shape C) Line D) Texture
6. What element of design is used to convey the mood or feeling of a design through
different shades and tints?
A) Color B) Value C) Line D) Shape
7. Which element of design can be either geometric or organic and helps to define
objects in a design?
A) Shape B) Line C) Form D) Space
8. What element of design focuses on the arrangement of elements in a design to
create a sense of balance or movement?
A) Space B) Line C) Texture D) Color
9. Which element of design helps to establish a visual hierarchy and guide the viewer’s
eye through a design?
A) Texture B) Line C) Form D) Value
10. What element of design is concerned with the emptiness or area between, around,
above, and below objects?
A) Shape B) Space C) Color D) Line

IV – ASSESSMENT
Direction: Draw 1 figure and 1object by outlining shapes with lines, adding form and
texture, applying color and value, and considering the surrounding space.

V – ASSIGNMENT
Directions: Apply the correct proportions when drawing figures and objects, start by
closely observing your subject to understand its proportional relationships. Begin with
basic shapes and guidelines to establish the overall structure and use measurement
techniques or visual comparisons to ensure accurate size ratios between different
elements. Continuously adjust your sketch to maintain consistency in proportions,
verifying that all parts align harmoniously with the overall form. Finally, refine your
drawing by reviewing and making necessary adjustments to achieve realistic and
accurate proportions.
