1 INTRODUCTION

SIC LASER marking system requires a configuration of the optics parameters.

Optic parameters are:

• Optical orientation
• Dimensional (lens and marking window size)
• Geometrical (correction file)

On PC MODE, (PC always connected to the laser rack), optic parameters used are defined in the PC.
They are adjusted in the SIC LASER ADVANCED parameters (Settings>Optic).

On Stand Alone Mode (laser used without PC connection), optic parameters used are in the memory
flash of the USC2 card.

By default, the software is configured for f160 lens. If the focal of lens is changed, the new parameters
have to be adjusted.

Note: the marking window size must be included in the optic window size to allow an adjustment of the
marking windows (offset and gain)

2.4 CORRECTION FILE

2.4.1 PC Mode
The used correction file is the file of the software

Manual - Optic configuration - R05.docx 10/16

2.4.2 Stand Alone Mode
Stand Alone Mode use correction file stored in the memory of the flash of the USC2 board (see §2.3)

2.4.2.1 Transfer of a correction file to the flash

This operation is needed in stand alone mode:

✓ after a replacement of the focal lens
✓ after an evolution of the firmware of the USC2 (InitFlash)

1 Open the setting window

2 Press "Advanced" button
3 Press "Settings" button
4 Select the correction file
5 Press "OK" button
6 Press "STORE" button to transfer the correction file to the flash
7 Press "OK" button
8 Press "OK" button
9 Quit the software
10 Press "RESET" button on the front of the rack
11 Wait 5s and after you can lunch the laser software again

2.5 WINDOW SIZE AND OFFSET ADJUSTMENT

2.5.1 PC Mode
Use the parameters "gain" and "offset" of the following window to adjust the scale (gain) and offset of
the window marking area. The value of the offset is in mm.

Note: If you get an error message, check if the value applied are OK : the marking window size must be
included in the optic window size to allow an adjustment of the marking windows (offset and gain)

Manual - Optic configuration - R05.docx 12/16

2.5.2 Stand Alone Mode
• To adjust gain and offset, initialize the value : apply the value gain X and Y: 1 and offset X
and Y: 0 (see picture)

• Open the Flash window (menu Extra\Flash) and use the command SC, TRB and SVG to do
the adjustment

Manual - Optic configuration - R05.docx 13/16

2.5.2.1 Gain adjustment

Command Function Type

SC Set/return the scaling Global
Parameter 1 2 3
XS YS ZS
Default 1.0 1.0 1.0
restriction Set : not allowed during marking or in JobIoSelect mode

o Example : SC 0.95 0.95 1[CR] adjust the gain X and Y to 0.95

o Optic limitation: window marking must be included in the optic window (lens size)
for example : with the lens F160, the lens size is 106 mm for a marking window of
100*100 (see §2.2 lens parameters). This parameter allow a maximum gain of 1.06.

o Software limitation : min/max value : 0.8 / 1.2

2.5.2.2 Offset adjustment :

Command Function Type

TRB Set/return the translation in bits Global
Parameter 1 2 3
X Y Z
Default 0 0 0
restriction Set : not allowed during marking or in JobIoSelect mode

o Calculation of the offset in bits:

Offset [bits] = Offset [mm] / Lens field Size [mm] * 65536 [bits]
Example : for a F160 lens, an offset of 1 mm the offset in bit is : 1/106*65536 = 618
bits

o limitation: window marking must be included in the optic window (lens size)

Manual - Optic configuration - R05.docx 14/16

2.5.2.3 Save of the parameters

Command Function Type

SVG Saves settings to the flash, so that they are available after Global
re-boot
restriction Set : not allowed during marking or in JobIoSelect mode

Manual - Optic configuration - R05.docx 15/16

2.6 RED GUIDE ADJUSTMENT
Due to the conception the marking laser and the red guide included in the laser source are not collinear.
In most of applications, default parameters are enough.
To adjust the red guide, you can do it through the settings windows.

Method:
1. Adjustment of the position
• Draw a small circle (radius 0.2 mm) centered on the origin (0;0)
• Mark it
• Without moving anything, activate the red guide
• Verify : the contour and the mark should be centered
• Adjust the position of the red guide with the parameters offset
2. Adjustment of the dimensions
• Draw a big square centered on the origin
• Mark it
• Without moving anything, activate the red guide
• The contour and the mark should be superposed
• Adjust the dimension of the red guide with the parameter waveform factor
