1 INTRODUCTION

The SIC LASER ADVANCED allows to have an Ethernet communication through the TelNet protocol.

Here are the steps to activate this function.


 Activate the board
 Attribute an IP-Adress to the card
 Activate the TelNet protocol

2 ACTIVATE THE BOARD

 Install "Sic Laser Advanced" on a PC


 Turn on the Fiber Unit (rack laser)
 Press the "INIT" button on the front. The blue light must be ON. (If not, refer to your manual
I103LG - § security loop)
 Connect the Fiber Unit to the PC with a USB cable
 Wait 10s
 Lunch "Sic Laser Advanced"
 Set the serial number requested
 Close "Sic Laser Advanced"
 Open the task manager and kill the process "sc_usc_server.exe"

3 SETTING UP OF THE CARD IP-ADDRESS

 Connect the FIBER UNIT to the PC with a USB cable


 Start "sc_usc_server.exe" in visible mode

 Open the USC2-LAN windows settings

 Set the parameters according to the network (IP-Adress, Subnetmask and Gateway)
 Press "Clear" button to delete the ConnectString parameter
 Press "Connect" to affect the IP-Adress to the board

4 ACTIVATION OF TELNEL PROTOCOL

 Open the "Flash" window

 Open the "Configuration" window


 Enable the TELNET option

 Enable the TELNET option


 Press "OK" to close the "Flash Configuration" window
 Press "OK" to close the "Flash Setting" window
 Press "Reconnect" button to reboot the board
 Exit "sc_usc_server" (press ESC keyboard touch)
 unplug the USB cable
 press "RESET" button on the front of the Fiber Unit

5 TEST

 Plug an RJ45 cable to the Fiber Unit (wait approximately 30s to open the TelNet session since
the connection of the RJ45 cable. Note this delay depend of the network)
 To test the system, use PUTTY software
 Configure PUTTY

 Press "Open" button to open the TelNet session : the following window will appear :

 Now, you can send the same command used in a RS232 communication
