Chapter 1 Installing and Logging in to the

Centralized Maintenance Terminal

1.1 About This Chapter

This chapter introduces how to install and how to log in to the SYNLOCK V3
centralized maintenance terminal (maintenance terminal for short).

1.2.2 Software Requirements

1.3 Installation Disk

1.3.1 Script Files

The installation disk of the maintenance terminal is created by the InstallShield

wizard, which is enhanced with the following functions.
z Checks whether the ODBC and Microsoft Access Driver (.mdb) are installed
z Registers the data source
z Writes the path of the initial file in the registry

1.3.2 Necessary Files

Table 1-4 describes the necessary file for the installation.

1.4 Installing the Maintenance Terminal

Do as follows to install the maintenance terminal.
1) Copy the files on the installation disk to the backup directory.
2) Run the Setup.exe file on the installation disk.
3) In the dialog box that appears as shown in Figure 1-1, click Next.

4) In the Software License Agreement dialog box that appears as shown in

Figure 1-2, read and accept the agreement, and click Yes.

5) In the Information dialog box that appears as shown in Figure 1-3, click Next.

6) In the Choose Destination Location dialog box that appears as shown in

Figure 1-4, click Browse to select the desired directory, and click Next.
The default directory is C:\Program Files\HUAWEI\Synlock.

7) In the Select Components dialog box that appears as shown in Figure 1-5, keep
the default components, and click Next.

8) In the Select Program Folder dialog box that appears as shown in Figure 1-6,
modify the program folder, and click Next.
Here, do not modify the default program folder.

9) In the Start Copying Files dialog box that appears as shown in Figure 1-7,
confirm the installation information, and click Next.
The copying progress is displayed.

10) After the files are copied, in the Setup Complete dialog box that appears as
shown in Figure 1-8, click Finish.

11) Open the Synlock.ini file in the Data directory, and modify the Stalk Num in the
Tree directory value to 10.

1.5 Logging in to the Maintenance Terminal

I. Description

This operation enables you to log in to the maintenance terminal and maintain the
SYNLOCK V3.

II. Prerequisite

Before the login, make sure that:

z The maintenance terminal software is properly installed.
z The user accounts and passwords are assigned by the administrator.

III. Procedure

Do as follows to log in to the maintenance terminal.

Step Action
Select Start > Programs > SynLock > SynLockV3 Program from the start

menu, or double click on the desk top to display the login dialog box as
shown below.

Input the legal user name and password.

The initial user name and password are Admin by default.
Click Log In to display the main interface of the maintenance terminal as
shown below.

Note:
z If no operation is performed on the maintenance terminal for a specified period of
time, the system is locked automatically.
z To unlock the system, input the login password in the Lock System dialog box,
and click OK.
