"(l) If appointed under contract, to such leave as is prescribed in
his contract; or
(2) (i) if there be no such prescription in the contract or
(ii) if appointed otherwise, to such leave as would be

admissible to him under the leave rules which would be


applicable to him if he held his post substantively otherwise
than on probation. If for any reason it is proposed to
terminate the services of a probationer, any leave which may
be granted to him should not extend beyond the date on
which the probationary period as already sanctioned or
extended expires, or any earlier date on which his services

are terminated by the order of an authority competent to


appoint him."

"(d) Save in the case of leave preparatory to retirement, "leave
not due" may be granted to a Government employee in permanent
employ for a period not exceeding 360 days during his entire
service, out of which not more than 90 days at a time and 180
days in all, may be otherwise than on medical certificate. Such
leave will be debited against the half pay leave the Government
employee may eam subsequently."
