1. This Question Paper has 5 Sections A, B, C, D, and E.
2. Section A has 20 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) carrying 1 mark each.
3. Section B has 5 Short Answer-I (SA-I) type questions carrying 2 marks each.
4. Section C has 6 Short Answer-II (SA-II) type questions carrying 3 marks each.
5. Section D has 4 Long Answer (LA) type questions carrying 5 marks each.
6. Section E has 3 Case Based integrated units of assessment (4 marks each) with sub- parts of
the values of 1, 1 and 2 marks each respectively.
7. All Questions are compulsory. However, an internal choice in 2 Qs of 2 marks, 2 Qs of 3 marks
and 2 Questions of 5 marks has been provided. An internal choice has been provided in the 2
marks questions of Section E.

32. A train travels at a certain average speed for a distance of 63 km and then travels a 5
distance of 72 km at an average speed of 6km/hr more than its original speed. If it
takes 3 hours to complete the total journey, what is the original average speed?

A rectangular park is to be designed whose breadth is 3m less than its length. Its area
is to be 4 square metres more than the area of the park that has already been made in
the shape of an isosceles triangle with its base as the breadth of the rectangular park
and of altitude 12m. Find its length and breadth.
33. Prove that if a line is drawn parallel to one side of a 5
triangle to intersect the other two sides in distinct
points, then the other two sides are divided in the
same ratio. In the figure, DE ∥ BC , AD = 2cm,
DB = 3cm and AE = 4cm. Using the above theorem,
find AC.

34. A juice seller was serving his customers using glasses as 5


shown in figure. The inner diameter of the cylindrical
glass was 5cm, but the bottom of the glass had a
hemispherical raised portion which reduced the capacity
of the glass. If the height of a glass was 10cm, find the
apparent capacity of the glass and the actual capacity.
(Use π = 3.14)

A vessel in the form of inverted cone. Its height is 8cm and the radius of its top,
which is open, is 5cm. It is filled with water up to the brim. When lead shots, each of
which is a sphere of radius 0.5cm are dropped into the vessel, one-fourth of the water
flows out. Find the number of lead shots dropped in the vessel.

36. Case Study – 1
Anuj is much worried about his upcoming assessment on A.P. He
was vigorously practicing for the exams but unable to solve some
questions.
Help him to solve the following problems, if the 3 rd and 9th terms of
an A.P. are 4 and −¿ 8 respectively.

Based on the above information, answer the following questions.


(i) What is the common difference of the A.P.? 1
(ii) What is the first term of the A.P. ? 1
(iii) Which term of the A.P. is −¿160? 2

37. Case Study – 2


A garden is in the shape of a rectangle. The
gardener grew Ashoka tree saplings on the
boundary of the garden at a distance of 1m
from each other. He chose a triangular region
inside the park to grow rose plants. The
gardener took the help of students of class 10.
They made a chart for it which looks like the
figure given below. For convenience, the
students considered point A as the origin.

Based on the above information answer the following questions.


(i) What are the coordinates of P and R. 1
(ii) The gardener wanted to plant some red roses at the centre of the 1
triangle. Help him by finding the centroid of ∆ PQR
(iii) Find the sides of ∆ PQR 2

38. Case Study – 3
In an exhibition, a statue stands on the top of a pedestal. From
a point on the ground where a girl is clicking the photograph
of the statue, the angle of elevation of the top of the pedestal
is 45° and the top of statue is 60° .

Based on the above information, answer the following questions


(i) If the height of the pedestal is 20m, then find the 1
distance between the girl and the foot of the pedestal.
(ii) If the height of the pedestal is 20m, then find the 2
height of the statue.

If the height of the statue is 1.6m, then find the height
of the pedestal.
(iii) If the total height of the statue and pedestal is 39m, 1
then find the length of AC.
