A 50-kg block of iron casting at 500 K is thrown into a large lake that is
at a temperature of 285 K. The iron block eventually reaches thermal
equilibrium with the lake water. Assuming an average specific heat of

we wish to use compressed air for doing an equivalent amount of work
in starting the car. The compressed air is stored at 7MPa, 25°C. Solve
the mass of the air and volume of the tank required to have the

compressed air having the same availability of 5.2 MJ. Take 101325 Pa
and 298 K as atmospheric condition.
A closed vessel of 0.2 m3 contains at 1 MPa and temperature 250°C. If

temperature, heat transfer, and change of entropy during process.
