28 A part of monthly hostel charge is fixed and the remaining depends [3]
on the number of days one has taken food in the mess. When Swati
takes food for 20 days, she has to pay Rs 3,000 as hostel charges
whereas Mansi who takes food for 25 days pays Rs 3,500 as hostel
charges. Find the fixed charges and the cost of food per day.
OR
A two - digit number is 4 times the sum of its digits. If 18 is added to
the number, the digits are reversed. Find the number.
29 In figure, a circle inscribed in triangle ABC touches its sides AB, BC [3]
and AC at points D, E and F respectively. If AB = 12 cm, BC = 8 cm
and AC = 10 cm, then find the lengths of AD, BE and CF.

Prove that the tangent drawn at the midpoint of an arc of a circle is
parallel to the chord joining the end points of the arc.

31 Following is the daily expenditure on lunch by 30 employees of a [3]

Find the mean daily expenditure of the employees.

32 The length of the sides forming right angle of a right triangle are 5x [5]
cm and (3x - 1)cm. If the area of the triangle is 60 cm2 . Find its
hypotenuse.

Two pipes together can fill a tank in 8 hours. The pipe withlarger
diameter takes 2 hours less than the pipe with smaller diameter to
fill the tank separately. Find the time in which each pipe can fill the
tank separately.
33 In the given figure, C D and R S are respectively the medians of△ [5]
ABC and △ PQR. If △ ABC ∼△ PQR then prove that:

2. AD× PR = AC × PS

34 A wooden article was made by scooping out a hemisphere from each [5]
end of a solid cylinder as shown in the figure. If the height of the
cylinder is 10 cm and its base is of radius 3.5 cm, find the total

surface area of the article.


OR
A vessel is in the form of a hemispherical bowl surmounted by a
hollow cylinder of same diameter. The diameter of the
hemispherical bowl is 14 cmand the total height of the vessel is 13
cm. Find the inner surface area of the vessel. Also, find the volume of
the vessel.
35 The median of the following data is 52.5. Find the values of xand y, if [5]

the total frequency is 100.


Section E
36 Read the text carefully and answer the questions: Kamla and her [4]
husband were working in a factory in Seelampur, New Delhi. During
the pandemic, they were asked to leave the job. As they have very
limited resources to survive in a metro city, they decided to go back
to their hometown in Himachal Pradesh. After a few months of
struggle, they thought to grow roses in their fields and sell them to
local vendors as roses have been always in demand. Their business
started growing up and they hired many workers to manage their

garden and do packaging of the flowers.


In theirgarden bed, there are 23 rose plants in the first row, 21 are
in the 2 𝑛𝑑 , 19 in 3 𝑟𝑑 row and so on. There are 5 plants in the last
row.
1. How many rows are there of rose plants?
2. Also, find the total number of rose plants in the garden.

3. If total number of plants are 80 in the garden, then find
number of rows?
4. How many plants are there in 6th row.
37 Read the text carefully and answer the questions:In an [4]
examination hall, students are seated at a distance of 2 m from each
other, to maintain the social distance due to CORONA virus
pandemic. Let three students sit at points A, B and C whose

coordinates are (4, - 3), (7, 3) and (8, 5) respectively.


1. What is the distance between A and C?
2. If an invigilator at point 7, lying on the straight line joining B
and C such that it divides the distance between them in the
ratio of 1 : 2. Then what are the coordinates of I(invigilator)?

3. What is the mid - point of the line segment joining A and C?
4. What is the ratio in which B divides the line segment joining A
and C?
38 Read the text carefully and answer the questions:Totem poles [4]
are made from large trees. These poles are carved with symbols or
figures and mostly found in western Canada and northwestern
United States.In the given picture, two such poles of equal heights
are standing 28 m apart. From a point somewhere between them in
the same line, the angles of elevation of the top of the two poles are

60 𝑜 and 30 𝑜 respectively.
1. Draw a neat labelled diagram.
2. Find the height of the poles.

3. If the distances of the top of the poles from the point of
observation are taken as p and q, then find a relation between
p and q.
4. Find the location of the point of observation.
