Lesson Plan: "My Family"
Level: 6th Grade
Duration: 1 Hour
Communicative Goal: Pupils will be able to talk about their family and
describe family members using simple sentences.
Objective: By the end of the lesson, pupils will:
 Learn family words (mother, father, sister, etc.).
 Use short sentences to describe family members (e.g., "My brother
is 10.").
Stages Procedures (steps)
Goal: Teach family words and prepare pupils for the task.
Warm-up:
Show a picture of a family and ask:
- "Who is this?" (Point to the mother, father, etc.)
- "What do we call them?"
Write the family words on the board: mother, father, sister, brother,
Pre- grandmother, grandfather.
Task Practice:
- Pupils repeat the words after the teacher.
- Teacher shows flashcards or gestures, and pupils guess the word.
Example Sentences:
Teacher says:
- "This is my mother. Her name is Amina."
- "My brother is 10 years old."
Pupils repeat the sentences.

Target Task (15 minutes)


 Activity :
Pupils work in pairs. Each pair has a family tree worksheet or can draw
their own family.
They take turns asking and answering questions:
"Who is this?"
"How old is your sister?"
While Example answers:
– Task "This is my father. His name is Ali."
"My sister is 12 years old."

Planning (10 minutes)


 Pupils prepare to present their family to the class.
 Teacher helps pupils make correct sentences.

Report (5 minutes)
 Pupils present their family to the class:
o "This is my mother. Her name is Amina. She is a teacher."

Analysis (10 minutes)


 Teacher writes common sentences on the board:
o "This is my ___."
o "He/She is ___ years old."
o "He/She likes ___."
 Pupils copy the sentences and check for mistakes.
Practice (10 minutes)
 Activity: Pupils write 3–5 sentences about their family in their
Post –
notebooks.
Task o Example:
 "My father is 40 years old."
 "My brother likes football."
 Sharing: Some pupils read their sentences aloud. Teacher gives
feedback.
