Observe 3 teachers from each level and take note of the necessary information as
required below. Please observe Privacy Act, wear mask and face shield, and observe a
1-m distance from someone you want to talk to. If the teacher does not want her/his

Analyze
1. What task/function is most often performed by the teachers in all the three levels of
the educational system? What do you think is the reason?

The task/function that is often performed by the teachers in all three levels of the
educational system are lecturing and class management. Children go to school to learn
and grow, and the teacher’s role is to be their guide, educate, inspire and help them
learn. Students go to school everyday to learn new lessons and listen to discussions
with their teacher, that’s basically what a teacher does everyday in a classroom. A
teacher plans and prepare appropriately the assigned courses and lectures. On the
other hand, the class management helps teachers keep their classroom under control. A
teacher in all three levels may have to conduct a discipline policy before starting the
formal class. Stating some rules and regulations is what I have observed since I am a
pupil, and that didn’t change when I got in college. I think classroom management is
very important because it establishes and sustains an orderly environment in the
classroom and it impacts a teacher’s ability to be effective and actually enjoy teaching.

2. Which function(s) is/are least performed by the teachers in the three levels of the
educational system? What do you think is the reason?

The function that is least performed by the teachers in the three levels of the
educational system is participating in extracurricular activities. I think teachers focus
more on academic and follows what is in the curriculum. An extracurricular activities are
defined as those school-based activities that are not tied to the curriculum. As a teacher
who focuses on the academic performance of a student, it plans effective lessons,
grade student’s work and provide feedback, manage classroom materials, navigate the
curriculum effectively and collaborate with other staff. Extra-curricular activities includes
creating sports team and other service related activities. I think these kind of activities
is least performed by the teachers.
Reflect

Make a brief reflection on …

“How do teachers’ responsibilities affect their lives?”

Teachers’ responsibilities greatly affects their lives as they are committed and
dedicated in their work. Teachers do their best in shaping a child’s future and develop
them in what they want, making him/her a better human being. For me, it affects the
teacher’s outside life in school, for example in their homes. Teachers also do their task in
homes where they check the assignments of the students and preparing the lessons for
next day. Aside from that, when students having some difficulties in learning or a
student having a problem in going to school because of family matters, it can greatly
affect the teacher. Maybe because, our teacher is our parent too. As what I see in the
movie “Beyond the blackboard”, teacher Stacey exerts effort on making the classroom
more interesting to see for the students to make them more motivated to go to class.
She always have more time in school even on weekends. For me that’s how teachers’
responsibilities affects their lives.
