will continue to save money in maintenance and support.
• Higher Network Profitability: The DV6000’s flexibility and performance allow users to make
maximum use of all revenue generating services.
•
• Highest Capacity: Using Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) the DV6000 can
11/00
transport eight separate 16 channel signal streams over one fiber for 20 Gbps transport.
The DV6000 is the most widely installed uncompressed digital transport system in the world. It is used
globally for all types of applications including digital supertrunking, studio quality (TV1) broadcast, distance
learning, centralized, commercial insertion, Internet access, private telephony networks and more.

DV6300™ Single Channel Video Transport
The DV6300 provides digital transport of single channels of uncompressed multimedia information for
interface to DV6000 networks or as stand-alone links. DV6300 is a completely modular family of products
that can be configured to support a wide variety of single channel applications and will eliminate the need
for decoding and re-encoding signals at intermediate locations. Some of the applications include:
• Single channel add from a remote location directly into a DV6000/ DV6400 network.
The DV6300 is completely compatible with all existing DV6000 and DV6400 products. The DV6300 remote
units are one RU high, accept standard DV encoder and decoder modules and are powered by an internal
110-220 VAC or optional -48 VDC power supply. The DV6300 tributary units plug into a DV6000/ DV6400
equipment shelf encoder/decoder slot and are powered via the equipment shelf backplane.

DV6400™ Multichannel Fiber Optic Transmission and Switching System
The DV6400 for the DV6000 platform is a fully redundant, fully protected 2.4 Gig and 595 Mbps transport
system. The system is capable of stand-alone operation (point-to-point) or as a powerful interface to larger
DV6000 networks. Its flexibility and modular architecture is ideal in the expanding service transport
requirements of post production, distance learning, videoconferencing and data transport markets.
The DV6400 transports and switches virtually every video signal today, including uncompressed analog and
digital video (including uncompressed SMPTE 259M, 270 MBps video and DVB/ASI), scrambled video,
compressed video (MPEG), multiplexed, modulated video (such as 64 and 256 QAM and 8 VSB) and video
Digital Transport Systems
for wireless distribution systems such as MMDS. In addition, the DV6400 transports high speed data
(including DS1, DS3, E1 and E3 telephony signals, as well as LAN signals like 10/100Base-T Ethernet LAN)
and voice signals.
The QRAM can offer bidirectional T1 and RS-232 traffic transported, directly in system overhead leaving
4 full channels of transport bandwidth available for DV6000 series encoder and decoder signals. This data
also provides for machine control and network management transport.
Each of the shelves of the DV6400 provides modular, redundant and scalable optics and electronics,
making this an ideal solution for high performance stand-alone networks or as a cost-effective extension
for larger, more extensive DV6000 networks. They both support the entire line of DV6000 encoder/decoder
modules, including the dual width D1 and PAL IF cards.

DV6128 Switch and Synchronizer
The DV6128SAS Switch and Synchronizer (SAS) is the first truly integrated transport and switching system
for professional quality video. The SAS combines the DV6000 and DV6400 with a powerful and versatile
128 X 128 non-blocking switch. With the SAS, up to eight 2.38 Gbps rings can be synchronized, combined
and effortlessly switched to form a wide variety of video network architectures. Combining SAS and
DV6000 platforms allows combinations of logical rings, stars, buses and mesh networks to span thousands
of kilometers.
Combining the SAS with fiber optic transport and wide bandwidth switching of video signal formats
Digital Transport Systems
offers transport providers and end users unprecedented flexibility and economy in supplying professional
video networks.

DVFE2
16 fixed 10/100 data ports are provided which include two optional Media Independent Interface (MII)
expansion slots. The MII expansion slots allow for the addition of 100Base-FX single-mode or multi-mode
optical fiber connections.
The DVFE2's Intelligent Forwarding feature allows maximum switching speed, minimizing delays while
ensuring data integrity by automatically selecting the fastest switching mode possible; for either
fragment-free or store-and-forward switching. EDF(Efficient Data Flow) technology minimizes switch
overhead and prevents communication delays between ports for time sensitive applications such as
video and multimedia.
With N-way auto-negotiation, network installation and configuration is simple. This dynamic feature
automatically detects and configures 10 or 100Mbps operation to insure optimum speed.
For added network protection, Spanning Tree Protocol detects and eliminates data loops to help prevent
broadcast overloads. IntraSwitch allows MAC address and IP address tracking for added security and
network control.
Support of up to 15 port based VLANs and interswitch VLANs for security, logical network design and
broadcast traffic control is also included. LED indicators provide link status, port activity, 10/100Mbps mode,
full duplex, and MII fiber module status.

Plug-in diplex filters and an optional return amplifier can be swapped if more return bandwidth is desirable.
The adjustable attenuator and equalizer simplify alignments on site. Local and remote powering are not an
issue with our built-in, superior wide operating range power supplies (90 to 250 VAC and 28 to 65 VAC).
The electronics are enclosed in an aluminum die cast housing. The rugged design makes the amplifier
water-tight, EMC, EMI, UL and CENELEC compliant.

Network Management Systems
An Integrated Approach
ADC offers a broad line of management products that each target a specific market size and need.
These products include craft tools, PC-based management tools and TL1 and SNMP agents for small
Network Management
• Commander: A TL1 proxy agent for DV networks. Commander continuously polls ADC devices for
alarms and converts the alarms into detailed TL1 message strings. Commander also accepts TL1
commands or requests and executes the appropriate commands or requests to the specified device.
Although most appropriate for monitoring ADC devices through use of a TL1 network manager such
as OSI's NetExpert, Commander also operates in conjunction with a user interface called TL1 Micro, a
TL1 command generating and interpreting tool.
• SmartNett software: PC-based software intended to both assist installers and maintenance
personnel as well as provide a means to monitor multiple ADC devices within a network.
SmartNett monitors ADC devices by polling the devices over either a locally-connected serial data
stream, a dial-up connection or an IP network. A graphic user interface is provided.
• Craft software: PC-based software intended to assist installers and maintenance personnel.
These software packages are designed to be connected to a single ADC device at a time.
These craft packages provide a Microsoft WindowsTM based user interface.
• SNMP Trap proxy: A third-party device that converts Major or Minor alarm contact closure alarms
into unsolicited SNMP Traps for integration into common SNMP managers. A single proxy can be
used to monitor multiple ADC devices and may be thought of as a 19-in rack or site monitor.
SNMP Traps can be customized to provide device identification. Traps can be sent over an IP network
directly,or via dial-up PPP connections. Craft or SmartNett software is required to query equipment

OSWorx Commander
OSWorx Commander is an element management system for management of broadband networks. It is a
mediation device that provides Operations, Administration, Maintenance and Provisioning (OAM&P), status
monitoring and control of various ADC elements, such as Digital Video, legacy Homeworx and third party
system components. The OSWorx Commander system software is continually updated to support new ADC
Broadband Communications products.
OSWorx Commander monitors both service interrupting and system degrading events for up to 1024 net-
work elements in four or eight port configurations. OSWorx Commander operates on a rack-mountable
Network Management
OSWorx Commander is designed around an object oriented database that provides robust operation.
OSWorx Commander supports the industry standard protocol, TL1. Through the use of OSWorx
Commander, device status, equipment configuration, performance parameters and equipment alarms are
gathered automatically and updated for each of the devices maintained in the database. The results are
reported using TL1 to a higher level Operations Support System, such as OSI’s NETEXPERTTM system.
TL1 MICRO Manager provides a WindowsTM based tool for creating and interpreting TL1 messages to
OSWorx Commander and is recommended in the absence of a higher level OSS system. TL1 MICRO
Manager and the Remote Monitoring Interface are described in more detail in the following sections.

The Attenuator’s unique, patented design guarantees a return loss of more than 50 dB. The connectors,
polished to ADC’s Ultra Physical Contact standards, also have return losses of greater than 50 dB. The
attenuation level can be continuously adjusted from <1.5 dB to >20dB.
Adjustable attenuation patch cords also provide the kind of end-to-end connectivity performance
your fiber plant will require in the future when higher bit-rate systems and video signals are commonplace.
Attenuated patch cords used as equipment jumpers may be purchased double ended or single ended.
1509
With a single ended cord, the stub end can be cut to the exact length and field terminated with a
connector. The attenuator resides close to the fiber optic terminal for easy access.
