FL2000 System
Introduction
The FL2000 System is a flexible, modular and economical series of fiber products
for today‘s and tomorrow‘s evolving communications and data networks.
FL2000 System
Features
• A complete line of modular panels and boxes, developed for cabinet, rack
and wall mounting.
• Fully adaptable for large or small main distribution frame (MDF),
intermediate distribution frame (IDF) or telephone closet (TC) applications.
• Designed for 19" (48.26 cm) EIA rack or cabinet environment found in FL2000 Rack Mount
many enterprise networks; optional brackets are available to accommodate Termination Panel
with IFC
23" (58.42 cm) or ETSI rack or cabinet mounting.
• Provides termination, splicing and storage capabilities for in-building cables,
outside plant cables and fiber optic terminal (FOT) equipment patch cords.
• Modular design offers maximum flexibility to satisfy both current needs
and future growth requirements.
• A full line of options and accessories ensures compatibility with existing
803
optical equipment.
• FL2000 systems accommodate the Value-Added plug-in modules, adding
flexibility and functionality to the optical transport systems. Splitters,
wavelength division multiplexers (WDMs) and other optical components FL2000 Rack Mount
•
• All FL2000 panels and boxes accommodate the modular FL2000 6pak
plug-ins. 6paks are available in all connector styles and can be ordered
as needed.
• ADC‘s patented removable angled retainers allow easy access for single
fiber maintenance.
• FL2000 panels and boxes feature superior vertical cable protection and
management.
• Rack mount panels are hinged on one side, allowing full access to the rear
of the front plate and the interior of the panel.
• Rack mount panels are equipped with mounting brackets to provide 5" 6pak Adapter Plug-Ins
(12.7 cm) recess mounting; mounting brackets are available for virtually any
mounting application.
• Rack mount panels can be wall mounted.
• The new FL2000 splice wheel allows easy roll-up of pigtail and buffer
tube lengths and superior bend radius protection.
• The FL2000 splice deck is available to complete existing installations.

Applications
Interconnect Configuration
In an interconnect network, all outside plant (OSP) fibers are terminated at the back of the connector
module and all equipment patch cords are connected at the front. Interconnect installations are most
commonly found in small, price-sensitive and low-reconfiguration applications.

Cross-Connect Configuration
In a cross-connect network, all OSP fibers and equipment terminations are terminated on the back of
the connector module. Patch cords are used at the front of the connector module to cross-connect OSP
fiber to the FOT equipment. The convenience and flexibility of the cross-connect system make it an
attractive method for managing your fiber plant. Cross-connect is the preferred installation for maximum

The intermediate distribution frame (IDF) area is the point of interconnection between building backbone
cables and horizontal tie cable serving telephone closets or station wire serving the individual work locations.
IDFs usually serve a single floor and are typically arranged vertically in a building riser area. Electronic hub
equipment is normally installed within the IDF area because of the proximity to the backbone cabling. In
many cases, the IDF is the last connection point prior to the end workstation connection. In large
buildings, IDFs may serve multiple telephone closets (TCs) via tie cables.
