12. (A) A solid sphere of radius 6 cm is melted and recast into a right circular cone of height 18
cm. What is the radius of the base of the cone? Calculate CSA of Cone.

(B)The height of a cone is 16 cm and its base radius is 12 cm. Find the curved surface area and
the total surface area of the cone
13. (A) A bus stop is barricaded from the remaining part of the road, by using 50 hollow cones
made of recycled cardboard. Each cone has a base diameter of 40 cm and
height 1 m. If the outer side of each of the cones is to be painted and the
cost of painting is ` 12 per 5 m2 , what will be the cost of painting all these
cones?
Or
(B) AD and BC are equal perpendiculars to a line segment AB. Show that
CD bisects AB.
14. The following data on the number of girls (to the nearest ten) per thousand boys in
different sections of Indian society are given below.
(i) Represent the information above by a bar graph.
(ii) What conclusions can be arrived at from the graph? Write your answer in?

15.(A) In right triangle ABC, right angled at C, M is the mid-point of hypotenuse AB. C is joined to
M and produced to a point D such that DM = CM. Point D is joined to
(i) ∆ AMC ≅ ∆ BMD (ii) ∠ DBC is a right angle.
point B. Show that:
(iii) ∆ DBC ≅ ∆ ACB

(B) .Two sides AB and BC and median AM of one triangle ABC are
respectively equal to sides PQ and QR and median PN of ∆ PQR . Show that:
16. (A) A bus stop is barricaded from the remaining part of the road by using 50 hollow cones
made of recycled cardboard. Each cone has a base diameter of 40 cm and height 1 m. If the
outer side of each of the cones is to be painted and the cost of painting is Rs. 12 per m 2, what will
be the cost of painting all these cones?
Or
(B) Monica has a piece of canvas whose area is 551 m2. She uses it to have a conical tent made,
with a base radius of 7 m. Assuming that all the stitching margins and the wastage incurred while
cutting, amounts to approximately 1 m2 , find the volume of the tent that can be made with it.
17. A random survey of the number of children of various age groups playing in a park was found
as follows:

18.(A) Once upon a time, in a small village, there lived a wise old man. He decided to build a
unique water tank to store water for the entire village. He wanted the tank to be efficient and
aesthetically pleasing.
After much thought, he decided to design the tank in the shape of a hemisphere surmounted by a
cylinder. The total height of the tank was to be 10 meters, and the radius of both the hemisphere
and the cylinder was 4 meters.
Now, let's help the wise old man with some calculations:
1. What is the height of the cylindrical part of the tank?
2. What is the total surface area of the tank?
3. How much water can the tank hold?
4. If water is filled at a rate of 5 cubic meters per minute, how long will it take to fill the tank
completely?
Or
(B) A spherical water tank is to be constructed with a radius of 5 meters.
Based on this information, answer the following questions:
1. What is the surface area of the tank?
2. What is the volume of the tank?
3. If the tank is to be painted, and the cost of painting is Rs. 20 per square meter, what is the
total cost of painting the tank?
4. If the tank is filled with water at a rate of 10 cubic meters per minute, how long will it take
to fill the tank completely?
SECTION E (2x5 =10)
19. AB is a line-segment. P and Q are points on opposite sides of AB such that each of them is
equidistant from the points A and B . Show that the line PQ is the perpendicular bisector of AB.
20.(A) A corn cob, shaped somewhat like a cone, has the radius of its broadest end as 2.1 cm
and length (height) as 20 cm. If each 1 cm 2 of the surface of the cob carries an
average of four grains, find how many grains you would find on the entire cob.
Or
(B) The length of 40 leaves of a plant is measured correctly to one millimetre, and
the obtained data is represented in the following table:
(i) Draw a histogram to represent the given data.
(ii) Is there any other suitable graphical representation for the same data?
(iii) Is it correct to conclude that the maximum number of leaves is 153 mm long? Why?
(iv) How many leaves have a length between 136 mm and 144 mm?
(v) Calculate the mean length of the leaves.
