Week # 05

 Continuity of Different Functions

 Continuity of different functions :-

A function “ ” is said to be continuous at a
point “c” if the following conditions are satisfied.
1. is defined
2.

 Condition for Continuity :-

If is any given function and we have to find the
continuity at then,

If

Then the function will be continuous otherwise not.

 Questions :-

 Discuss the continuity.

1.

Condition 1:-
Is defined.
Condition (1) is satisfied.

Condition 2:-
.

Now Apply the Limit

=>

Condition 3:-

Hence it is Continuous.

2.

Condition 1:-
is defined

Already given that

Condition 2:-
.

Now Apply the Limit

3  3
=> => form
3  2 ( 3)  1 5
2
It form then by factorization

( x  3)

( x  3) ( x  5)

Apply the Limit

Condition 3:-

Hence it is discontinuous.

2

It form then by factorization

(x  2) (x  2)

(x  2) ( x  6)

Apply the Limit

4
4

Condition 3:-

Hence it is discontinuous.
4.

Condition 1:-
Is defined

Already given that

Condition 2:-
For Left hand Limit

For Right Hand Limit

Condition 3:-

Hence it is continuous.
