2. The next term of the AP √18, √50, √98, … 𝑖𝑠

(A) √128 (B) √140 (C) √162 (D) √200
3. The common difference of the AP whose nth term is given by an = 3n + 7 is
(A) 7 (B) 3 (C) 3n (D) 1
4. If the sum of the first n terms of an AP be 3n2 + n and its common difference is 6, then its
first term is
(A) 1 (B) 2 (C) 3 (D) 4
5. The 21st term of the AP whose first two terms are – 3 and 4, is
(A) 17 (B) 137 (C) 143 (D) – 143
6. The first term of an AP is 5 and the last term is 45. If the sum of all the terms is 400, the
number of terms are
(A) 20 (B) 8 (C) 10 (D) 16
7. If 7 times the 7th term of an AP is equal to 11th times its 11th term, then its 18th term will

Each of the following questions contains Assertion and Reason and has following four
choices (a), (b), (c) and (d), only one of which is the correct answer. Mark the correct
choice.
(a) Assertion is true, Reason is true; Reason is a correct explanation for Assertion.
(b) Assertion is true, Reason is true; Reason is not a correct explanation for Assertion.
(c) Assertion is true, Reason is false.
(d) Assertion is false, Reason is true.
9. Assertion: - 5, - 2.5, 0, 2.5, … is an AP
Reason: The terms of an AP cannot have both positive and negative rational numbers.
10. Assertion: a, b, c are in AP only if 2b = a + c
Reason: The sum of first n odd natural numbers is n2.
11. The sum of the first 30 terms of an AP is 1920. If its 4th term is 18, find its 11th term.
12. How many terms of the AP 45, 39, 33, … must be taken so that their sum is 180? Explain the
double answer.
13. Solve the equation: (-4) + (-1) + 2 + …. + x = 437
14. Split 207 in three parts such that they are in AP and the product of the two smaller parts is
4263.

fixed number every year. The company produces 800 rollers in the 6th year and 1130 rollers in
the 9th year.
Based on the above information, answer the following questions:
(i) What is the company’s production in the first year?
(ii) What was the increase in the company’s production every year?
(iii) (a) What was the company’s production in the 8th year?
