GRAMMAR: Simple Past (negative "didn't")

English Explanation:

● In English, we use "didn't" (did not) to make negative statements in the simple past.
The structure follows:
○ Subject + didn't + base form of the main verb
● Important: The main verb after "didn't" always remains in its base form; it doesn’t take
a past tense form.
● Example sentences:
○ Affirmative: "I visited my grandmother last weekend."
○ Negative: "I didn't visit my grandmother last weekend."
○ Affirmative: "She watched TV last night."
○ Negative: "She didn't watch TV last night."

Common Mistakes to Avoid:

● Don't change the main verb into its past form after "didn't."
○ Incorrect: She didn’t watched TV.
○ Correct: She didn’t watch TV.

Explicación en Español:

● En inglés, usamos "didn't" (contracción de "did not") para hacer oraciones negativas
en el pasado simple. La estructura es la siguiente:
○ Sujeto + didn't + forma base del verbo principal
● Importante: El verbo principal después de "didn't" siempre debe estar en su forma
base, no en pasado.
● Ejemplos de oraciones:
○ Afirmativa: "I visited my grandmother last weekend." (Visité a mi abuela el fin
de semana pasado.)
○ Negativa: "I didn't visit my grandmother last weekend." (No visité a mi abuela
el fin de semana pasado.)
○ Afirmativa: "She watched TV last night." (Ella vio la televisión anoche.)
○ Negativa: "She didn't watch TV last night." (Ella no vio la televisión anoche.)

Errores Comunes a Evitar:

● No cambies el verbo principal a su forma de pasado después de "didn't."

○ Incorrecto: She didn’t watched TV.
○ Correcto: She didn’t watch TV.
