Use the following text to answer questions 2–4:

Dr. Liza conducted a sleep study in which half of the volunteers were randomly assigned to
scroll through their friends’ photos on social media right before bedtime. The other half of the
volunteers were told to avoid screens at bedtime. Dr. Liza measured the length of time it took for

should avoid scrolling through friends’ photos on social media prior to bedtime, because
it will then take them longer to fall asleep. Which of the following describes the
journalist’s error?
a. The journalist cannot generalize these research findings to the general
population, because Dr. Liza did not use random assignment.
b. The journalist cannot generalize these research findings to the general
population, because Dr. Liza did not use random selection.
c. The journalist cannot infer causality from Dr. Liza’s study, as it was a
nonexperimental design.
d. Providing general advice based on the results of one study is unethical.

5. Dr. Hedge replicated past EEG research by showing that alpha waves were present

participants slept 8 to 9 hours per night for 4 weeks (Group B). She ensured that the
participants’ living quarters were the same for the duration of the study, changing only the
amount of time each group slept. Using the graphs and information in the prompt, address the
following questions:

11. Based on the data in the graph, which of the following statements best describes the
results of Dr. Truman’s study?
a. A lack of sleep causes weight loss.
b. Participants’ living quarters impact weight.
c. A lack of sleep causes weight gain.
d. Participants’ living quarters impact sleep.

12. Which of the following aspects of Dr. Truman’s study allows her to draw a cause-effect
conclusion about the impact of sleep on hormones?

The study that suggest that dreams help us learn is that when they had the clock
sound playing in the background when they we’re learning a complex game,
when they were falling asleep they gave them the headphones while they slept.
This could be because of how our brain will associate that sound with the
situation we heard it, before going to sleep we think of it which cause to think of it
and remember it.

The most important points she made is that it can harm teens by leading to being
sleep deprived which can cause depression and it can also risk a person's health
because the students who drive to school are at risk of having accidents in the
morning. And it can also allow students to be more aware and focused while also
allowing them to have a great memory.

It's when students struggle to sleep due to teens naturally sleeping later on
weekends which can cause their sleep cycle to get messed up, making it harder
for them to sleep early on Sunday nights.
3. How can jet lag can affect our circadian rhythm?
It disrupts the bodies’ internal clock. Because of the rapid time zone change can
cause you to feel fatigue and not let you focus till your body adjusts.
4. How does sunlight affect circadian rhythms?
Since the sunlight is an indication when to wake up or when to sleep. When it's
