Clauses as Adverbs
An adverbial clause is a dependent clause that modifies a verb. Find the
adverbial clause in each sentence. Write the word it modifies on the short
line and the clause on the longer line. Circle the subordinate conjunction
(words that tell how, when, why or where).

1. Carlton read in his study until it was time to go to bed.

2. My said we could go provided that we were invited.

3. We will have the picnic so long as the weather stays nice.

4. Kenneth acts as if he is the king of the world.

5. Rachel can't decide whether she will go to the party.

6. Can we talk after we finish our dinners?
