Narrative Report on the Participation to the 3-Day Regional Training of Second Year Teacher-Trainers of the 2010 Secondary Education

Curriculum Understanding by Design (UbD)


May 23-25, 2011 @ Almont Inland Resort Hotel, Butuan The day also focuses on the six[6] Facets of Understanding, the heart of the 2010 Secondary Education Curriculum. In the afternoon, the workshop on the six Facets of Understanding was thoroughly set and was duly processed by us augmented by participants active participation. The workshop on the EU s and EQ s followed. The day ended with a very challenging yet fruitful sessions.

s a matter of practice, the curriculum in the Philippines is revised every ten years. This is done to facilitate the continual necessitate of upgrading our educational system apt to the fast growing demands of time. The following are the chronicled events transpired during the participation of the undersigned to the aforementioned training.

May 24 [Day 2]
Day 3 is Stage 3 Day . We are instructed to make the Learning Plan/Teaching guide based on the previous 2 stages made. We see to it that we always check for the achievement of understanding. In the afternoon, the workshop/write shop continued.

May 22 [Day 0]
The Arrival to Butuan City and was temporarily checked-in to UCCP guest house as the seminar will be first thing in the morning of the 25th of May, 2011 at Almont Inland Resort Hotel, Butuan City.

May 25 [Day 3] May 23 [Day 1]


The opening program started at 8:00 A.M. It was followed by a Plenary Session on Understanding by Design [UbD] and getting in to the Core of 2010 Secondary Education Curriculum [SEC] by the Regional English Supervisor, Dr. Isidro Biol. In the afternoon, the breakout by learning area started. The conceptual framework was the first introduced. It was followed by the stage 1 of the design which caters on Content Standard, Performance Standard, Essential Understanding [EU] and Essential Questions [EQ]. The last day is the showcase of what we facilitated in the training. We have our Demonstration Teaching and Critiquing which strengthen our understanding of the concepts and insights generated. The principals who served as our critique gave additional insights engendered from the observation process. After which the Clearing House and Closing program followed.
