LEARNING PLAN
SY 2024-2025

Subject/Level: Science 8 Date: October 14, 2024 Week No.: 1

Unit Topic: Cell Cycle Quarter: second Lesson No.: 1

Transfer Goal:

The learner, in the long run, and on their own, will be able to analyze how the behavior of water is affected
by environmental problems in the community and be responsible stewards of God’s creation by finding eco-
friendly solutions through the utilization of locally available or recyclable materials.

Essential Understanding: The learners understand that the knowledge about the particle nature of matter
and the periodic table helps us recognize the behavior and the characteristics of matter so that we will know
how they will be used properly in our daily lives in order not to cause harm to God’s creation.

Essential Question/s: How does knowledge about the particulate nature of matter affect our lives?

I. Preliminaries
● Prayer
● Attendance
● Energizer

Review: Students will be asked to recall how they evaluate the process of mitosis.

Focus: Composition of Matter

Vocabulary (unlocking of difficulties)

Composition - a substance that consists of matter
Particle Nature- the smallest component of matter

Motivation: Draw Me a Picture!

Draw an example of a matter that you have extensively used at home. Complete the picture frame
below.

b. How did it help you in your daily life?
Activating Prior Knowledge: Worksheet Completion
Analyze the given samples to determine whether they matter or not. Indicate also the reasons for your
answer.

A. Presentation of Concepts

Objectives
:At the end of the topic the students must have:
A)

recognized the two general periods of cell cycle,

B)

created their own cell cycle diagram

,C)

explained the cell cycle according to what they have learned from the discussion

Activities:

1. Situation Analysis

B. Melissa’s Experiment

Process Questions:
a. What will you be the explanation of James in his experiment?
b. What will you be the explanation of Melissa in her experiment?

2. Interactive Discussion with Simulation Analysis through Collaboration

● Discuss the composition of matter with the use of phet simulation.
● Explore the simulation on the composition of the states of matter using the phet simulation.

B. Broadening of Concept
1. How do you differentiate the composition of matter in different states?
2. Why do we need to investigate the composition of matter?
3. How does knowledge about the particulate nature of matter affect our lives?
(EQ)

C. INTEGRATION
a) Ignacian Core/Related Values: Faith: Humility
As Ignacian Marian learner, how can you promote acceptance on the differences of your traits in your
family?

b) Social Orientation: Gender Equality

As Ignacian Marian Learner, how do you relate the importance of each member of the family in their
role in society?

c) Lesson across Discipline: Araling Panlipunan

How do you promote the importance of family as the smallest unit in the society in building our
nation?

d) Faith/Biblical Reflection: 1 Corinthians 10:16-17

16 The cup of blessing that we bless, is it not a participation in the blood of Christ? The bread that we
break, is it not a participation in the body of Christ? 17 Because there is one bread, we who are many
are one body, for we all partake of the one bread.

and gas). Use any shapes and colors to describe each state.

IV. Summary/ Action

Journal Writing
○ Write your reflection about what you understood about the lesson.

V. Purposive Assignment

Prepare the materials for laboratory investigation of the properties of matter. Make sure to connect
with your groupmates to plan and execute the experiment properly.
