Method 2
Method 2
If you don’t want to manually press the oil, you can use a home oil extractor machine, which simplifies
the process.
Ingredients:
2-3 cups of mustard seeds (more or less depending on the size of the extractor)
Instructions:
o Place the mustard seeds into the machine’s hopper. The extractor will crush the seeds
and press them to release the oil.
o As the machine presses the seeds, oil will flow into the collection chamber. The oil will
be collected and may contain some fine particles, which can be filtered through a cloth
or fine sieve.
o After filtering, store the oil in an airtight container and keep it in a cool, dry place.
Notes:
Mustard oil's pungency: Mustard oil has a distinct, sharp flavor and is used in many cuisines,
especially in Indian, Bengali, and Southeast Asian dishes.
Heating mustard oil: Many people heat mustard oil before using it in cooking to mellow its
pungent taste. Heat it until it just starts to smoke and then let it cool slightly before adding it to
dishes.
Health benefits: Mustard oil is rich in monounsaturated fats and omega-3 fatty acids. It is also
known for its antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties.
This method allows you to enjoy fresh, homemade mustard oil, but be aware that cold pressing or
extracting oil at home can be labor-intensive and may require specialized equipment.
