I am writing to express my strong interest in the MSc program applying for the European
Master in Biological and Chemical Engineering for a sustainable Bioeconomy (Bioceb) as part
of the esteemed Erasmus mundus program. Since I have completed my bachelor degree of
science in chemical engineering from Mekelle University, Ethiopia Institute Of Technology-
Mekelle (EIT-M) .I believe that my academic background developed a solid foundation in
chemical processes and engineering principles makes me a strong candidate for this
scholarship opportunity.
I have been fascinated by Biotechnologies for Food Science and addressing the urgency of
global challenges such as climate change, resources depletion and food security has led me to
recognize the critical importance of sustainable Bioeconomy practices. I believe that master
from your esteemed university would provide me with the ideal foundation to pursue a
successful career in this field.
My passion for Biotechnologies for Food Science stems while growing up, I always enjoyed
helping my grandparents tend to their vegetable garden. One summer, a particularly bad
blight devastated their tomato crop. Witnessing the frustration and potential food insecurity it
caused made me realize the vulnerability of our food system. Learning about the potential of
using beneficial microbes or even genetic engineering to create disease-resistant crops
sparked my interest in Biotechnologies for Food Science. This experience ignited my
curiosity and motivated me to delve deeper into the subject. Throughout my academic career,
I engaged deeply with courses such as analytical chemistry, applied chemistry, applied
inorganic chemistry, applied electrochemistry and introduction to Biochemical Engineering
have consistently excelled in courses related to Chemical and environmental Engineering
achieving my bachelor's degree. My strong academic performance reflects my dedication to
learning and my eagerness to gain a comprehensive understanding of Biotechnologies for
Food Science.
My future plans are to deepen my knowledge and expertise in cutting -edge technologies that
address both environmental and socio economic challenges.
I envision myself collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to optimize resources use and
minimize waste, ultimately leading to a more sustainable future.
I firmly believe that this bioceb program is the pinnacle of academic excellence and the ideal
platform to propel my academic and professional journey towards realizing my career
aspirations of creating a sustainable food production system that leverage biological processes
to reduce waste and improve efficiency. I am confident that the Erasmus Mundus MSc
program in Bioceb will equip me with the necessary tools, guidance and international
exposure to turn this vision into reality. The program's interdisciplinary approach and
international exposure provide a unique opportunity for me to specialize in Biological and
Chemical Engineering, thus better equipped to contribute to the global sustainable food
production systems. Collaborating with esteemed researchers from diverse backgrounds will
foster an environment of excellence and innovation, providing me with invaluable insights
and perspectives that will shape my future contributions.
I am confident that I possess the necessary skills and dedication to excel in your rigorous
program. I am eager to contribute to the vibrant academic community at the Bioceb program
and believe that my unique perspective and experiences will enrich the classroom
environment.
Thank you for considering my application. I have attached my Curriculum Vitae (CV) for your
review and welcome the opportunity to elaborate further on my qualifications in an interview.
Sincerely,
Ahmed Berihu Kahsay
