ASSIGNMENT

V.P.Dharaneesh
Grade - XI
The issues in Kashmir are complex and multifaceted, involving historical,
political, and social dimensions. Key problems include:

1. *Territorial Dispute*: Kashmir is claimed by both India and Pakistan,

leading to multiple wars and ongoing military tensions. China also claims parts
of the region.

2. *Political Autonomy*: The region was granted special status under

Article 370 of the Indian Constitution, which was revoked in 2019, leading to
increased unrest and protests.

3. *Human Rights Violations*: Reports of human rights abuses by security

forces, as well as militant violence, contribute to a climate of fear and distrust
among the local population.

4. *Militancy and Violence*: Ongoing militant activity and the presence of

armed forces create a cycle of violence, impacting daily life and stability in the
region.

5. *Economic Issues*: The conflict has stunted economic development,

leading to high unemployment and lack of investment in the region.

6. *Cultural Identity*: The struggle for cultural and religious identity in a

heavily militarized environment exacerbates tensions between different groups.

Efforts for peace and resolution have been complicated by these factors, with
various stakeholders holding differing views on the way forward.
