Import generic ASCII File

Release number v3.0

Technical support
1. Introduction

This document describes how to import stations or subscribers form an ASCII file in ATDI tools.
Stations can be imported either on map or in the current station database (the one linked to the project).
Subscribers are imported in the current Subscriber database (the one linked to the project).

2. ASCII File format

The first step is to prepare the file to import. This file must be a text file (CSV or TXT) with a maximum of 36
columns. The numbers must be in the expected unit (power in W or dBm, angles in degrees, ...). The
columns do not need to be sorted in a particular way with a separator that can be user defined. The file
may contain a header for each column, but it is not mandatory. It might help during the import process.

3. File/Import/Import generic stations/subscribers...

In the "File to import" section, specify the CSV or TXT file to import by clicking on the three dots.
Set the separator (user defined) and click on refresh. Then all the columns will be displayed as shown
below:

Now, perform the mapping of each column according to the content of the file to import:

The last column (number 36) is dedicated to import the horizontal pattern. The patterns must be defined
with 36 values (one value per 10°) with a "space" separator.

It is possible to import antenna patterns also, from different formats. “Antenna name” field is dedicated for
that, as explained below:
"Antenna name" field checks if an antenna name exists in main installation path, \\Base\Antennas folder or
\\Base\Rpe folders
"Antenna name" may or may not contain extension (i.e. 270 75\SC15).
Formats supported: .ADF .MSI .PLT .PRN .PLN .FCC .A3D .PAT .ADW.
This option starts a search engine (if no extension) and compares name with names included in .ADW files
(for Rpe) or checks the nearest name.xxx in \\Base\Antennas folders, with xxx = .MSI .PLT .PRN .PLN .FCC
.A3D .PAT .ADW.

If the coordinate code used for the coordinates is not specified in the file, then the "Default coordinate
code" is used.

It is possible to save the mapping in a .ASG file that can be reloaded later to repeat the import using the
same configuration:

The different import options are described below.

- Import on map will add stations on the map.

- Update on map stations will update the parameters of the stations present on the map (the "Link”
field in station parameters box will be set to "11"). In that case, the primary key is the callsign of
the stations. Otherwise, stations in the input file with a callsign not present on the map will be
added, and their "Link" field in their parameters will be set to "00".
- Import to subscriber database will import the records into the current subscriber database (the
one linked to the project).
- Import to station database will add stations to the current station database (the one linked to the
project). If the "Replace if record exists in DB station"" option is checked, the stations of the input
file will replace the corresponding record of the database (with the same callsign) without
prompting the user.
- Import 16b (x y value) opens a new dialog to add 16-bit values on (x, y) coordinates on the map.

o Operator: "Max" will keep the maximum 16-bit value between the current one on the map
and the value of the CSV file. "Add" will sum the current 16-bit value on the map and the
value from the CSV file.
o Reset 16b layer: If used, the current 16-bit layer displayed on the map will be removed and
replaced by the values from the CSV file.

- Import VEC Txt (x y comment) will import the records as vector text into the current vector layer.
More details in http://data.atdi-group.com/doc/Import labels or markers from CSV into vector
layer.pdf.

A report is displayed at the end of the process, showing information about imported/modified stations:
