for Tags, Alarms, and Historian” software. Basically the same software as
the Version 5.6 Alarm Builder with new historian functions added.

 Review of Tag Data Editing Functions
 Used for easier and more efficient editing of individual or multiple tags.
 Multiple tags can be edited in a spreadsheet-like table. Tag values can be copy-and-paste within the table or
between Windows applications (e.g., to and from Excel).
 User-configurable tag data element filters are used to set the elements to display in the table. For example,
configure a filter to show the local string tags, a filter to show the alarm severities, etc.
 The tags are edited based on data types. For example, edit all P_AIn tags, or P_Motor tags, etc. The tags in
the table can be filtered using the tag name or tag description; for example, show only temperature indicator
tags (“TI” tags) or flow indicator tags (“FI” tags), etc.
 Tags from the table can be exported to a tab-delimited text file. Use Microsoft Excel or other text editors to edit
the text file. Tag values from the edited text file can be imported back into the controller ACD files.
 Functions to create and populate Excel workbooks with online RSLinx Classic OPC read/write functions. The
workbook similar to the ProcessLibraryOnlineConfigTool_x_y.xls except that it is automatically populated with
controller tags.

 New Historian Tool Added for July 2018
Release
 Instead of having another stand-alone tool, the new historian tool is added as
new Historian Server project nodes:

 Use the same project controllers for configuring tag data, alarm rationalization,
building AE/ME alarms and historian configuration – integrated configuration
environment for PlantPAx (icePAx). The controller Logical Organizer or project
process tree can be used for organizing alarm groups and AF elements.

 PlantPAx Historian Configuration Tools
 Bulk configuration of OIS PI Asset Framework (AF) databases with Logix
tag AF elements. This includes automatic configuration of related PI points
in the FactoryTalk Historian (FTH) data server (i.e., PI data server).
 For systems without AF, a separate tool is provided for bulk configuration of
PI points in the FTH data server. The tool provides the option of generating
a bulk import file, or adding the PI points directly if a FTH data server
connection is available. The bulk import file can be used with the PI Point
Builder Excel Add In to create points in the data server.

 PlantPAx AF Import Tool
 The import tool adds AF elements to the AF database by using AF element templates
and event frame templates.
 The templates are used for creating AF elements based on Logix tag data types.
Preconfigured templates for Process Library V3.5 and V4.0 AOIs are included with the
configuration tool.
 The templates and related library components (enumerations, category definitions,
digital state sets) are automatically added/updated in the AF database and PI data
server by the import tool.
 Each of these Logix tag AF elements contain attributes that reference PI data (e.g.,
analog input “.Val”, “.Val_Fault”, etc.). The configuration tool automatically adds the
required PI points to the PI data server.

 Alarm Builder
 V4 AOI alarm processing and AOI alarm names have not changed from V3.x. Hence, the alarm
builder Logix data type definitions remain the same.
 In previous versions, Alarm Builder configures the AE FactoryTalk View parameter to launch the
tag’s associated HMI faceplate display using the faceplate display name. The updated version
uses macros to launch the faceplate displays.
 V3.x HMI faceplate displays use two tag placeholders: #1=tag address, #2=tag address path.
 V4 HMI faceplate display use three tag placeholders: #1=HMI constant tag, #2=tag address,
#3=tag address path. The HMI constant tag is Const\Num0, Const\Num1, or Const\Num2 – the
HMI tag used depends on the display type (Quick, Faceplate, Advanced) and user’s area
security.
 The software includes one set of macros for V3.x SE applications and one set of macro for V4
applications. V3.x macros use the two tag placeholders syntax and V4 macros use the three tag
placeholder syntax.

 SILAlarm
 SILAlarm import and export functions are updated to automatically to use
“OSet_xxLim” for V3.x tags and “Cfg_xxLim” for V4 tags (xx = alarm name,
“HiHi”, “Hi”, etc.). These elements are used in the SILAlarm rationalization
for setting alarm limits. The “OSet” alarm limits have been renamed to “Cfg”
alarm limits in V4.

 Tag Data Editing and Excel Exports
 Tag data editing and Excel exports are based on user-configurable data type element
filters.
 Since V3.5 and V4 AOIs may contain different elements for the same named AOI, the
software is updated to allow elements from different AOI versions to be in the same
filter. Filter elements that do not exist for the AOI being edited are ignored. For
example, the P_AIn “OSet_” elements are ignored when editing V4 P_AIn tags.

 The purpose of the PlantPAx Process Library Migration Tool is to help users
update their FactoryTalk View SE/ME graphics and Logix ACD files with the
latest version of the Process Library AOIs and HMI global objects.
 The tool reduces engineering time and migration errors.
 Use the tool to keep up with the latest Rockwell Automation software
features and increase the life cycle of the PlantPAx DCS.

 Update Logix ACD files containing one version of Process Library AOI
definitions to a different version. Upgrade from Process Library AOI
versions 1.1, 1.5, 2.0, 3.0, 3.1 to versions 3.5 or 4.0; and version 3.5-xx to
3.5-yy; version 4.0-xx to 4.0-yy.
 When used with the graphics migration function, the tool adds any
necessary alias tags with the required naming convention for faceplate-to-
faceplate navigation.
 Works with Logix ACD files V18 to V31.

Graphics
 Update FactoryTalk View SE/ME process graphic XML files containing
items linked to Process Library HMI global objects. This tool upgrades
global objects from Process Library versions 1.1, 1.5, or 2.0 to Version 3.5
or Version 4.0. (Migration tool is not needed for updating V3.x to V3.y or
V3.x to V4.0 HMI graphics – simply update the HMI application’s image
files, global object files, and faceplate display files to the new version.)
