COURSE OUTLINE
Lecturer; Timothy Sawe
Course description
Digital circuits are the basic blocks of modern electronic devices like mobile phones, digital cameras, microprocessors
and several other devices. This course will cover fundamentals of digital circuits and how to engineer the building blocks
that go into digital subsystems
The Objective of this course is to familiarize the student with fundamental principles of digital design. It provides
coverage of classical hardware design for both combinational and sequential logic circuits.
2. Understand and manipulate Boolean algebraic structures and simplify Boolean expressions using Karnaugh map
3. Analyze and design various combinational and sequential circuits using gates and flip flops
4. Design electrical circuitry using logical elements realized on the base of different technologies.
Learning approaches
Lectures, Presentations by members of the class, Case discussions, Tutorials, Assignments, Continuous
assessment tests, Lab Practical, Library, appropriate software, manual/notes
