Semester I - Academic Year 2020-21

First Year Computer Science Engineering

Name of Student: Yash R Trinagariwar Division: D Roll No: 56 Subject: FDA

Experiment No: 3

Experiment Title: Histogram

Aim: To perform histogram analysis on a given dataset using data analysis toolpak in Excel.

Theory: A histogram is used to summarize discrete or continuous data. In other words, it provides a
visual interpretation. This requires focusing on the main points, facts of numerical data by showing the
number of data points that fall within a specified range of values (called “bins”). It is similar to a vertical
bar graph.

Procedure: 1. Download a required dataset from the internet.

2. Click on ‘File’ icon on the top left corner of your window.

3. Go to ‘Options’->Click on ‘Add Ins’->Select ‘Analysis Toolpak’->Click on ‘Go’.

4. We can perform histogram analysis by first performing descriptive statistics which gives the minimum
and maximum range of the numbers in the dataset. So for descriptive statistics go to ‘Data’->Click on
‘Data Analysis’->Select ‘Descriptive Statistics’-> Click on ‘OK’.

5. Input range->Select data.

6. Output range->Select any random cell.

7. Check On ‘Summary Statistics’-> Click on ‘OK’.

8. After performing descriptive statistics, for creating histogram write numbers from minimum to
maximum range in one column.

9.Go to ‘Data Analysis’->Click on ‘Histogram’->In input range select all data.->in Bin range select the
numbers that we have written in column from minimum to maximum range->For output range select
anyone cell->Click ‘OK’.

Output:
Conclusion: Thus, I successfully performed Histogram analysis on a given dataset using data analysis
toolpak in Excel.
