Machining Types

• Non Traditional Machining

a. Machining by the following Process
1. Water Jet
2. Electro/Chemical Erosion
3. Laser Beam
4. Ultrasonic
Machining Types
Cutting with Convenntional tools:
1. Shaping machine - is a machine designed for giving desired shapes to
the surfaces that may be horizontal, vertical and flat. A shaping
tool is used to cut in curves, different angles, and many other
shapes. A disc is responsible for the tool rotation which results in
the forward and backward movement.

2. (Turning) Lathe machine - is a machine tool that removes the
undesired material from a rotating workpiece in the form of
chips with the help of a tool that is traversed across the work
and can be feed deep into the work.

3. Milling Machine - is a machine which is used to remove metals from
the workpiece with the help of a revolving cutter called milling cutter. It is
used to machined the flat, rough and irregular surfaces and this is done by
feeding the workpiece against a rotating milling cutter.

4. Drilling Machine - device for producing holes in hard substances. The
drill is held in a rotating spindle and is fed into the workpiece,
which is usually clamped in a vise resting on a table. The drill
may be gripped in a chuck with three jaws that move radially in
unison, or it may have a tapered shank that fits into a tapered
hole in the spindle.
