“Geometries Of Different Aerofoils”

 NACA 2412:-

1. Go to the website https://airfoiltools.com/ and explore its different sections.

2. Go to the NACA 4-digit generator.
3. Enter the details required to make a NACA 2412 aerofoil. Number of points should
be 200.

4. After entering the details, send it to airfoil plotter and enter the chord length
(150mm) in the given section.
5. Download the CSV file of the coordinates and open it in excel sheet.

6. Next create a new excel sheet with the following columns and save the sheet.
 #Group
 Point
 X_chord
 Y_chord
 Z_chord

7. Copy the data on notepad and arrange it.

8. After arranging the data, save it in the computer.
9. Open Ansys Workbench 15.0 and go to the geometry section.

10. Import the Aerofoil coordinates on workbench.

(Concept—3D curve—Coordinate file—Select the file of aerofoil coordinates
which is in .txtformat.)

11. Select the coordinate unit “ Millimeter” and press ok.

12. Now the aerofoil geometry will be displayed.
13. Make sure you zoom in to check that the trailing edge for the aerofoil is closed.
14.Now you have to create surface body of the aerofoil.
15.For creating surface body go to:
(Concept—surfaces from edges—select the aerofoil curve/edge and click on
generate.)

16. Your geometry of NACA 2412 aerofoil is created.
