Introduction
Input devices are hardware components that allow users to
provide data and control signals to a computer. They are essential for
interacting with and operating computer systems.

Definition
An input device is an external used to send data to a computer
or other processing device. This data can be in various forms, including
text, images, sound, or commands. The purpose of input devices is to allow
users to interact with the computer and enter information.

Types of Input Devices

Input devices come in various forms, depending type of
data they handle. Here are some common types:

Keyboard
The keyboard is one of
the most widely used input devices.
It allows users to type text and
numbers and input commands.
Keyboards are essential for word processing, programming, and data entry
tasks. It can be:

1) Wired
2) Wireless

Mouse
A mouse is pointing device that detects two
dimensional-motion relative to a surface. It helps
users to navigate the computer’s graphical user
interface (GUI) and interact with on screen
elements like icons, menus and buttons. It can be:
1. Wired
2. Wireless

3
Scanner
A scanner digitizes physical documents
and images by converting them into digital
data that can be processed by a computer.
They are commonly used for creating didtal
copies of photos, documents, and artwork.

Webcam
A webcam is a camera that captures live
video or still images. It is commonly used for video

conferencing, streaming, and surveillance.

Microphone
This device captures audio and converts it
into digital form. Microphone are used for voice
recording, video calls, and voice commands (like
with virtual assistants)

Output Devices
Output devices are hardware components that receive data from a
computer and translate it into a form that humans can understand, like
visual, auditory, or physical output. These devices allow the computer to
communicate with the user by displaying results or outputs og processed
data.

Types of Output Devices

Output devices come in various forms depending on
their action.

Monitor
A moniter (or screen) displays
visual output from the computer. It shows
images, texts, and videos, allowing users
to interact with software and view data. It
can be: OLED,LCD and LED each
providing different qualities of display.

Printer
A printer produces a physical (hard copy)
output of digital documents. These are various types
of printers including:

I. Inkjet
II. Laser
III. Dot Matrix
 Printers are commonly used for printing documents, images and
photos.

Speaker
Speakers produce audio output from the
computer, allowing users to hear sounds, music
and audio effects. They convert digital audio
signals into sound waves that we can hear, making
them essentials for multimedia tasks.

Projector
A projector displays visuals from the
computer onto a larger surface, like a screen or
wall. Projectors are widely used for presentations,

movies and events where a larger display is needed.

Headphones
Similar to speakers, headphones
deliver audio output but in a more personal way,
allowing only the user to hear the sound.
Headphones are commonly used for private
listening in settings like gaming, music, or online
meetings.
