Direction: Using your Show me board, spell the

Let’s clap it! (Cause-and-Effect)
Direction: Clap once if the underlined part is the cause
and clap twice if the underlined part is the effect.
Literacy – reading the sentences that express show and effect

C. Motivation
Song
Literacy-Read the lines of each stanza then sing it to the tune of B-I-N-G-O.

Based on the song, what are verbs again class? What are the
examples of these action words given in the song? Can you think
of another example of verbs aside from those words?

Let us list some more example of verbs but this time you are
going to give examples of verbs base on the given place.

The Verb Game

Teacher asks:
*Based on the verbs we’ve listed, at which place has the greatest examples?

*Can you compare the 3 of them? Let us count them again.
Presentation
Teacher presents pictures with sentences.
B. Development Direction: Read the sentence for each picture and let’s identify the verb
used.

(Teacher presents scenes from the movie Leo.)

Teacher asks:
*What/ who is the subject in picture number 1? 2? 3? How about the
verb?
*What have you notice about the subject/s and the verb/s in the
sentence/s?

Teacher says:
Today we are going to learn about subject -verb agreement.
Subject-Verb Agreement portrays particular rules in terms of
agreement between the subject and the verb. The subject and verb of
the sentence must agree in number. If the subject is plural, then the
verb must be in its simple form. If the subject is singular, then the
verb must be in its –s form. Always remember, the subject must
always agree with the verb, thus, agreement.

ICT Integration-Teacher presents the following sentences using slide


presentation and asks the pupils to drag the arrow using the laptop
in choosing correct verb that agrees with the subject.
1. Maja (dance, dances) gracefully during the program.
2. The grade five pupils (finish, finishes) their project on time.
3. Teachers (develop, develops) the pupils’ multiple intelligences.
4. Mr. Cruz (talk, talks) with the visitors from Manila.
5. I (love, loves) watching English movies and programs
GROUP ACTIVITY
- Divide the class into three teams
- Recall the things to remember when working in groups
- Explain the rubrics to be used

Group 1- The Vocalists

Directions: Compose a song with four lines applying the subject-verb


agreement. Apply any tune that your group is familiar with.

Group 2- The Artists

Directions: Act out and describe 3 scenes/ scenarios that exhibit how we can
show concern to other people. Be mindful of applying the subject-
verb agreement in the description of each scenario.

Group 3- The Muralists

Directions: Draw a simple poster about your day-to-day life activity as a


pupil. Then, write sentences describing it with the application of
the subject-verb agreement.
Valuing
Teacher shows a picture regarding the latest news.
D. Assimilation
What should we do when there is a
Typhoon warning signal in our place? What are
the different storm signals? (Science)
Should we also be concerned with our
neighbors? Why or why not?

Generalization

Teacher asks:
*What are verbs?
*When do we use the s-form of the verb?
*How about the base form or simple form of the verb?

Evaluation

Read and analyze the following sentences. Choose the correct verb
that agrees with the subject.

1. These cute little kittens (is, are) ready to be sold in the Pet
lovers’ Fair tomorrow.
2. The coach (feel, feels) disappointed in the team’s dance
performance earlier today.
3. The new costumes (bring, brings) great excitement among the
casts of the play.
4. The accessories and jewelries as well (attract, attracts) the mall
goers who pass by their stall.
5. A newly-built air-conditioned building (surrounds, surround)
our school.
