Layering

Sweat management and temperature control

Base layer

When cold - merino wool when active, and poly when sleeping
gsm - grams per square meter
90 - 300 gsm (close to mid layer)

aim is to cover as much skin as possible with a think wicking insulating fabric

Mid layer
It traps heat, an insulating layer.
Down, primalogt, synthetic fill products - cheaper are fleece, flannel

If any activity is going to make you sweat, it is better to wear synthetic, as it deal with
moisture better. But synthetic is usually bigger than dawn.
Shot shell is not a good mid nor outer layer

Bottoms
Soft shell is the midground between outer layer and outer layer
example:

if snow is wet / long day in snow, better hard shell. (waterproof layer)

But long hiking in hard shell is not a good option due to sweat
