Reflection Report
Reflection Report
of experiential learning and personal growth. The objectives of the internship, ranging from
project exposure to project consultancy operations to the enhancement of teamwork and
communication skills, all coupled together provided a solid foundation for professional
development. The following reports aims to provide an overview of this reflective learning
experience, guided by the Gibbs' Reflective Cycle models that offers meaningful insights into
challenges faced and the key lessons and takeaways derived from those (Williams,
Woolliams, & Spiro, 2012). In addition to this, as a personal development planning model,
SMART goals has been employed in order to outline a structured approach to personal
development (MILGRAM, 1999).
Reflective Learning:
1. Description:
The opportunity to serve as an intern at Scholars Leap Consultancy Ltd exposed me to a
multifaceted experiential journey, enabling me to delve deeper into the complex dynamics of
project consultancy groups. From the outset, I was allocated different responsibilities, such as
project documentation, client liaison, research, analysis, and presentation. Each of these tasks
provided a unique learning opportunity on its own, contributing to an in-depth understanding
of consultancy operations and the requirements of the market.
2. Feelings:
During the initial days of the internship, I experienced a sense of being overwhelmed given
the vast breadth of responsibilities that surrounded me. These days often witnessed moments
of doubts and uncertainty. However, as time passed, the adaptability element came naturally
as I leveraged every challenge as an opportunity to learn and grow. Making my way across
the different tasks, I eventually began to enjoy them and experienced a sense of satisfaction
and excitement, as I was highly driven by the opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge to
real-world scenarios.
3. Evaluation:
Reflecting on these experiences, I have now come to realize the significance of adaptability,
resilience, and most importantly, effective communication in the consultancy domain.
Despite encountering several obstacles that seemed impossible to cross at that time, I
remained resolute and solution-oriented, consistently looking for opportunities to enhance
and excel in my role. The challenges I faced prompted me to confront my weaknesses and
push myself beyond my comfort zone. This also led me to the realisation that such challenges
must be taken head on as they are crucial for personal growth and development.
4. Analysis:
After carrying out a comprehensions analysis of my performance during this internship
period, I identified several strengths, some of which I was completely unaware of before.
These comprised of proficiency in research and analysis, attention to detail, and a
collaborative mindset that facilitated working in teams and resolving conflicts effectively.
However, I also acknowledged areas that required massive improvement, such as my time
management skills and ability to communicate with clients. By critically evaluating my
actions and the outcomes, I attained meaningful insights into my capabilities and areas for
further growth and development.
5. Learning:
As discussed above, this reflective process unveiled certain meaningful key takeaways that
will now shape my future actions as well as decisions. I have now realized the actual
importance of continuous learning and self-improvement, and the dire need to embrace
challenges head on and consider them as opportunities for growth. In addition to this, I have
now gained a comprehensive knowledge of the consultancy profession and the specific skills
and expertise this are required to succeed in this dynamic domain.
6. Action:
As I move forward in my future, I am dedicated to executing concrete steps to address areas
of improvement and leverage my strengths. This involves improving my time management
skills by prioritizing tasks and delegating work effectively. I also need to work on enhancing
my client communication abilities through active listening and empathy, and actively seeking
opportunities for professional growth and skill enhancement.
