Lesson Plan – ESL Listening Level A2

A. Learning Outcome
- LO1. Comprehend statements from a spoken text.
- LO2. Isolate relevant detail from the spoken text.
- LO3. Apply newly learned words in constructing sentences

B. Motivation
- Do you like pizza? What flavor? How many slices can you eat? Slice is part of the
whole
- Do you know fractions? What is called in Korean? Maybe you know how to write the
number but do you know how to say it?
- One half (half); one third, one fourth (quarter) ….. etc

C. Presentation
Getting Started; Topic 1; Topic 2
- Ask the student to listen to the passage and answer the questions while listening
- Ask the student if she wants to listen again
- Check the answers
- If there is a wrong answer then give feedback (listen to the audio again but this time
concentrate on the section where the student committed a mistake)
- If all answers are correct then proceed to the next activity
- If there is a need to introduce incidental lessons (listening skills; grammar) then do so
Look up and check up
- Ask the student to listen and repeat the listed words
Guided Activity
- Ask the student to identify unfamiliar words on the list then explain/discuss the
meaning of each word

D. Assessment
- Ask the student to listen and answer Unit Test
- Check the answers
- If there is a wrong answer then give feedback (listen to the audio again but this time
concentrate on the section where the student committed a mistake)
- If there is a need to introduce incidental lessons (listening skills; grammar) then do so

Assignment
- Let the student words choose 10 words from Look up and check-up (preferably
include the unfamiliar words discussed) and write sentences using these words
