(b) Jenny knits jerseys for her aunt. In one week, she knits 8 jerseys
which are sold at $750,00 each. She is paid a basic weekly
wage of $500,00 plus a commission of 2 ½% per jersey.
Calculate
(i) her commission in one week,
(ii) her total weekly earnings. [3]
Calculate
(i) the amount received in rands for $1 250,00, [2]
(ii) the amount received in dollars for R80. [2]

In the diagram, A, B, C and D are points on the circumference of a circle
with AB = BC. AT and CT are tangents to the circle and TAB = 34º.

The Venn diagram shows two sets R and S such that R ﮟS = ξ.
Use ruler and compasses only for all constructions and show clearly
all the constructor, lines and arcs.
(ii) the locus of points that are 2cm from AD, [3]
(b) Label clearly the points X and Y which are 2cm from AD and
equidistant from BC and CD. [2]

The diagram above represents the cross-section of a barn. The width is 10m,
the vertical sides PT and RS are each 15m and the roof PQR is an arc
of a circle, centre O, with POR = 90º.

y 11 5 3 2 p 1 0,7 q
(b) Using a scale of 2cm to represent 1 unit on the x – axis and 2cm
to represent 2 units on the y – axis, draw the graph of y = 12/x –
1 for 1 ≤ x ≤ 8. [4]
(d) Using the same axes draw the graph of y = x + 4 and use your
graphs to estimate the solution of the equation 12/x -1 = x + 4.
[2]
Using a scale of 2cm to represent 2 units on each axis, draw axes for
values of x and y in the ranges – 6 ≤ x ≤ 10 and -4 ≤ y ≤ 16.
(c) The line A2A2 has coordinates A2 (-2, -2) and B2 (-6, -2).
AB onto A2B3.
(b) A competitor who caught more than 40 fish won $5 000 and a
competitor who caught more than 30 fish but at most 40 fish
won $2 000.
