SSC211:MENTAL ABILITY AND REASONING-I

Course Outcomes: Through this course students should be able to

Unit I
Comprehension : techniques for smart reading - skimming, scanning and summarizing,, SQW3R
method and types of questions, application based questions
Unit II
Logical venn diagrams : venn diagram based questions, application based questions

Inserting the missing character : pattern completion, decipher the pattern, find the missing
Character
Unit III
Logical reasoning : assertion and reason, situation Reaction Test, statement and arguments,
statement and courses of action, cause and effect
Non-verbal reasoning : series of figures, analogy of figures, classification of figures

Unit IV
Alphabet test : alphabetical order of words, letter-word problems, word formation by unscrambling
letters
Number, ranking and time sequence test : number test, ranking test, time sequence test

Unit V
Direction sense test : direction puzzle, sense the directions correctly

Blood relations : relation based puzzle, coded relations

Unit VI
Series completion : series completion, analogy, classification

Coding decoding : letter coding, direct letter coding, number/symbol coding, deciphering message
word codes, number and symbol codes for messages
