Dana Witsman Project 1: Website Reviews

Introduction
I am reviewing the McDonalds website. This is a commercial company. When I first
entered the website there was a popup that asked if I wanted to sign up for discounts and
deals. The website is very appealing and advertises their deals immediately.
Colors and Logos
The base and background color is black. The text is usually white which stands out on the
dark background. The logos are typically red circles with writing inside. The McDonalds
logo is on the top left of the page. When you click on this logo, it refreshes the home
page. This logo will also direct you back to the home page of the website.
Text Content
The text content on this website is very informative. They have the ingredients for all of
the foods and drinks. Each food or drink has a nutritional menu connected to it. The text
stands out and is organized to make it easier on the user.
Fonts
The headers are in bigger and bolder letters which bring attention to the sections.
Majority of the font is white which stands out on the black background. Each subtopic is
in a smaller font compared to the header.
Navigation
The navigation of this website is very good. It is easy to navigate through and find what
you’re looking for in every section. Each section is labeled. If you are looking for the
foods, you would click under the header “Our Menu” and then select which foods you are
interested in perusing. If you click on the “About Our Food” header it will take you to
sub topics including information about the beef, the nutritional calculator, food experts,
food philosophy, and the commitment to their food. Under the section “Deals and Our
Apps” you will find the option to select the current deals, the mobile order and pay, or the
option to download the mobile app. The “Trending Now” section promotes all of the
deals currently going on such as the $1, $2, $3, dollar menu, the new limited time foods,
and again the mobile app. The “Locate” section of the navigation bar is where you can
type in the area near you to see where the closest location is, if they offer mobile deals,
mobile ordering, drive-thru, or Mcdelivery. The last section on the navigation bar is
“Search.” This is where you can search the site yourself for anything in which you would
like further information.
Accessibility
The site is very accessible. The fonts were large and stuck out clear enough that I did not
struggle viewing items listed. The images posted were a benefit. I did not have any
trouble viewing things and was able to quickly navigate through.
Animation (if appropriate)
The animation on this website is very appealing. When I first entered the site, the front
page was filled with deals and pictures of the food offered by the company. Under each
category, they had images of food and drinks. The images of the food looked so delicious
and appetizing, I was actually really hungry after reviewing the site. They had an image
of a cellphone with the McDonalds application on it to try and promote the app, as well.

The responsive web design appears to be good. I was able to access it on three different
web browsers, the browser on my iPhone, and via the Mobile App. Everything loaded
like it should.
Final Design Comments
The website was appealing to me and very easy to navigate about. There was nothing
confusing about it, and it was extremely user friendly.

Introduction
I am reviewing the Apple website. This is a commercial company. When I first entered
the website, there was a picture of the brand new iPhone XS on the main screen. This is a
great tactic to keep customers intrigued and wanting to learn more.
Colors and Logos
The cover page background color of the website is black. The text is white which allows
users to easily see what is written. Once you enter the site, the background changes to
white and the text changes to black. The Apple logo is at the top left of the screen. When
you click on this logo it refreshes the home screen or will take you back to the home
screen when on a different page.
Text Content
The text content is very informative. It gives you many different details on each device,
accessories, and support. The device you select has its own text tailored to it.
Fonts
The headers are in bold black letters which stand out to the user viewing the page. The
subtopics alternate font colors. If you select “iWatch” the background changes to white
and the text changes to black. If you select “iPad” the background changes to black and
the text changes to white. The font stays the same, but the colors change.
Navigation
I was able to easily navigate about this page. When you select the “Mac” topic it opens
up with many pictures of the Mac items and accessories. If you select one of the links
listed under this topic, it takes you to the page you selected. The page also allows you to
view information and background about Macs. When selecting “iPad” it takes you to a
page full of images with iPad’s and accessories. You can select which link you would like
to view for the iPad’s. The links you select are only about iPad’s. The iPhone, Watch, TV,
and Music topics all act the same way as the Mac and iPad links do. When selecting
“Support” it takes you to a page that lets you select the device in which you need support.
After selecting the device, you can then choose exactly what you need support with for
that device. The last item listed on the navigation bar is a bag icon. This icon is used to
represent items that you have added to your bag for purchase.
Accessibility
The site was very accessible. I was able to navigate and find exactly what I was looking
for. The layout of the page and the images and colors used were nice. If a user wasn’t
able to read well, they would still be able to navigate and find what they were looking for
based off of the images.
Animation (if appropriate)
Each device has multiple images next to it. This allows users to know which device they
are viewing. Within the device page that you selected, there are also images to show

specs and comparisons of other devices. The website was filled with animation and
images.
Responsive Web Design
I was able to access this website through multiple browsers, the browser on my phone,
and the mobile application offered. Everything was easy to navigate to and it loaded and
showed the images properly.
Final Design Comments
At some points when viewing the information and text listed under the devices, it began
to be overwhelming. There was so much information, which is a good thing, but it would
have been easier to view and read if it were listed as bullet points.
