Okta SSO Integration

Use Okta SSO to enable employees to sign into Approval Studio

Approval Studio Okta SSO integration allows your employees to sign into your Approval Studio
company via your Okta organization.

Supported Features

Approval Studio provides Service Provider (SP)-Initiated Authentication (SSO) Flow. Thus, any Okta
user with a permission granted by Okta account admin can sign in/sign up to Approval Studio with
the help of the Okta account. All the credentials changes will be managed on the Okta account
side, all the Approval Studio settings (notifications) will be managed individually by users on
Approval Studio side.

Requirements

The Okta Single Sign-on integration is available to customers on both Lite and PRO plans. To
set up the integration, you must be an admin in both Approval Studio and your Okta
organization.

Configuration Steps

1. Add Approval Studio URL to your Okta API trusted origins.

In the Okta Developer’s Console go to API → Trusted Origins

Fill the form as follows. Specify ​https://app.approval.studio​ as an Origin URL. Don’t forget to
check both checkboxes below:

After saving your changes proceed to the next step.

2. Install the Approval Studio app within your Okta organization.

Switch to C
​ lassic UI​ of your Okta dashboard

Go to ​Applications ​menu
Click A
​ dd Application b
​ utton

In the search field, type “​Approval Studio​” and click the matching result to visit our app page.

On the G
​ eneral Settings​ screen. Click ​Done t​ o continue

3. Assign users and groups that will be using Approval Studio SSO

Now that the app is installed on Okta’s side, you can add users or groups of users that are
allowed to access Approval Studio as admins via SSO. Y
​ ou must add yourself here to
continue the installation process.

4. Configure Tenant ID

Switch to S
​ ign On​ tab and press E
​ dit ​button
Copy ​Client ID​ value and paste it to the ​Tenant Id​ field. Press S
​ ave b
​ utton to apply your
changes.
5. Gather all values to configure Okta SSO integration in the Approval Studio settings
Copy Client ID and Client Secret from OpenId Connect section to be used on the next step

and copy your O


​ rg URL​.
6. Configure Okta SSO integration on the Approval Studio side

Log into your Approval Studio company and head to the settings page.

In the left sidebar you’ll find the Company Info settings panel. Select it and scroll down to
find Integrations section. Click the Configure Okta SSO button.

Here is where you’ll paste the O


​ kta Domain URL​ (Org URL),​ Client ID​ and ​Client Secret
that you copied from Okta’s Sign On settings in step 5. Once you’ve filled out these fields,
click S
​ ave Changes​ to complete the installation process.

After the installation is complete, your assigned employees will be able to log into
Approval Studio using the Login with Okta button on the Approval Studio Login page by
entering their Okta credentials.

Notes.

This is the first level Okta SSO integration. New features will be available later.
