Recounts Lesson 1
Recounts Lesson 1
Concluding Sentence
What a special time I had with my family at the carnival!
Personal Recount Example –
Building a Snowman
When we woke up this morning, we saw that the world was
covered in a blanket of crisp white snow. So, as soon as we
were dressed, my sister and I dashed outside and built a
snowman in my backyard.
First, we made the body and the head. It took a long time
because we needed lots and lots of snow to make a big, strong
snowman! Next, we made the snowman’s face. I used a bent,
old carrot for the nose. It looked quite funny! To finish, we
draped Grandpa’s scarf around the snowman’s neck. I thought
our snowman looked very grand indeed!
Building snowmen is definitely the best way to enjoy snowy
weather.

Last winter, my family and I headed up into the snow- capped
mountains for a camping adventure. As soon as we arrived, we
built a large camp site. It was fun but exhausting! After that, it was
getting cold so we all helped to collect firewood. I found three logs
that were the perfect size and shape for our camp fire. Once
everything was ready, we roasted some sweet and sticky
marshmallows over the roaring fire. We sat around the crackling
camp fire for hours because we were all so warm and happy. We
loved being together and no one wanted our holiday to end!

My Morning
It all began early this morning when I woke up early from a very deep
sleep. Before getting up, I stretched, yawned and thought about all
the fun things I would do today. After I jumped out of bed, I opened
my curtains then rushed to the bathroom to have wash, clean my
teeth and brush my hair. Then I put on my school uniform. As soon as I
was ready, I dashed down stairs to have my breakfast. Once I had
finished eating I sat down to watch a few minutes of my favourite TV
programme before I went to school. While I was watching TV, I
finished my homework because I didn’t want to get into trouble with
my teacher. Soon it was time to leave so I put on my school shoes,
grabbed my coat and ran to the car. All of a sudden I realised I had
forgotten my school bag so I ran back to get it before mum told me
off. Eventually we set off for school.
