FESTIVAL OF TALENTS 2025

GENERAL GUIDELINES

1. Modification of PE Uniforms and Hand Props


- Adjustments to PE uniforms and hand props shall be conducted during MAPEH class hours and
integrated into their ARTS curriculum to minimize unnecessary expenses for students.
1. Prohibition of Revealing Attire
- The wearing of revealing clothing during performances is strictly prohibited. Each team must
observe decency in all costumes/attires. (please refer to Student’s Handbook)
2. Prohibition of Backdrops
- The use of backdrops in performances is strictly prohibited.
3. Prohibition of Hazardous Materials
- The following are not allowed as props: fire, water, deadly weapons, and other
dangerous and explicitly offending objects.
4. Prohibition of External Dance Instructors
- The hiring of external dance instructors is strictly prohibited. Sections found to have engaged
external choreographers will be disqualified. All dance steps and concepts must be developed during
MAPEH class and guided their MAPEH teachers.
5. Practice Guidelines
- Students are strictly prohibited from engaging in practices outside school premises on weekends
unless they are accompanied by their parents, have coordinated the activity with both their Adviser
and Co-Adviser, and have obtained a signed permit from their parents.
- Parents who accompany and supervise practices are not permitted to teach or choreograph the
dance of Musical Pieces
6. All sections must submit their musical pieces to Ma’am Christine Maranon on or before the specified
date (TBA). Sections failing to meet this deadline will be ineligible to perform on the scheduled date
(TBA).
7. Practice and Blocking Schedule
- The schedule for practices and blocking in the gymnasium will be posted at a later date. Attendance
on the assigned schedule is mandatory. Failure to appear on the scheduled date will result in the
automatic disqualification of the section.
8. General Rehearsals
- The date and time for general rehearsals will be announced and posted. Attendance is mandatory.
9. Non-Compliance
- Failure to comply with any of the aforementioned guidelines will result in the disqualification of the
section.

CRITERIA

A. ORIGINALITY– 20%

1. Variety of dance positions, dance movements, and/or combinations as appropriate to the specific
dance.
2. Difficulty of dance movements and/or combinations from one dance position or alignment to another.
3. Uniqueness or originality of dance movements and/or combinations from one dance position or
alignment to another, to include presentation of dance position.
4. Continuity of dance movements and/or combinations to either interpret dance theme and music, or to
demonstrate dance control. This refers to exceptional phrasing which includes spontaneous
adjustments of dance pattern for irregularly phrased musical selections.

B. EXECUTION – 30%

1. Basic pattern, rhythm, timing, and initial phrasing between partners and to the selected music.
For correctly phrased musical selections, phrasing may be shifted for momentary variation, but
generally should be maintained throughout the specific dance.
2. Proper performance of footwork, hand, head, arm, and body movements through dance variations; to
include balance and centering through executed movements.
3. Alignment, framework, and proper presentation of dance positions; to include smoothness of
follow–through from movement into position; to demonstrate properly initiated lead and follow technique
from position into movement.

C. CHOREOGRAPHY- 30%

- Exhibits creative use of space (like changing formations, facing different directions, changing
levels, dancing in different part of the space, etc.) and demonstrates clarity and variety in musicality
and rhythmic choices.

- Transferring from one place/formations into another with smooth delivery and executions.

D. PROJECTION – 10%

1. Artistic interpretation and choreography projected through dance movement as it relates to the
selected music and the specified dance category.
2. Attentiveness, enthusiasm, enjoyment of the dance, and general good partnership as perceived

3. Flair and accent of dance movement, generating an atmosphere and instilling a mood appropriate to
the specific dance category.
4. Use of props as part of their performance.

E. PROPS/MODIFICATION OF PE UNIFORMS– 10%

* Use of hand props as part of their performance and the visual impact of the modified PE uniform.
