Assessments which are done with the use of video games have been capitalized on

since most of the students are highly conversant with ‘digital play. Imagine you are
applying as a junior high school English teacher and you are asked, during the
interview, to share some appealing games that you would use in your English class. How
will you convince the interviewer that you are the teacher they want?

 Choice of Year Level:

- My approach caters specifically to junior high students. I understand their
developmental stage and the need for engaging, relevant activities. The games I
propose are designed to be challenging yet accessible to this age group, keeping
them motivated and learning.

 Grammar Focus:
- The games will focus on key grammatical concepts appropriate for junior high,
such as parts of speech, sentence structure, verb tenses, and punctuation. I'll adapt
the games' complexity to the specific grammar points being taught, ensuring a
gradual increase in difficulty.

 Method:
- I will use a blended learning approach, combining digital games with traditional
classroom activities. This allows for flexibility and caters to different learning
styles. Digital games offer immediate feedback and gamified rewards, boosting
student engagement and motivation.

 Type of Assessment Task:

- The games will incorporate various assessment types, including formative and
summative assessments. Formative assessments, integrated within the games, will
provide ongoing feedback, allowing for timely adjustments to instruction.
Summative assessments, such as final game scores or project presentations, will
gauge overall understanding.

 Samples of Techno-Based Grammar Assessment Games:

- Grammar Quest: A role-playing game where students navigate a virtual world,
completing grammar-related challenges to progress. Correct answers unlock new
areas and rewards. This game allows for personalized learning paths and immediate
feedback.
- Sentence Scramble: A puzzle game where students rearrange words to create
grammatically correct sentences. This game reinforces understanding of sentence
structure and word order. It can be adapted to focus on specific grammatical points.

- Verb Tense Voyage: A time-travel adventure game where students must use correct
verb tenses to navigate different historical periods. This game makes learning verb
tenses fun and engaging, while providing immediate feedback on accuracy.
