Q1. Explain types of materials with example. Also define resistivity of the material.
Q2. What is drift and diffusion current? Write the diode current equation.

Q3. Draw the energy band diagram for insulator, conductor and semiconductors. Define also all three.

Q4. What is intrinsic and extrinsic semiconductors. (Marks: 2)

Q5 Why germanium has low resistivity as compared to silicon? Give reason. Draw diagrams if needed.

Q6. What is mass action law. Derive the equations for recombination and generation of charge carrier.

Q7. Consider an intrinsic silicon bar of cross section 10 cm2 and length 0.5cm at room temperature
300K. An average field of 30V/cm is applied across the ends of the silicon bar.

a) Calculate electron and hole component of current density.

b) Total current in the bar
